Go Purdue!  If they win then

Go Purdue!  If they win then sharty beats iowa in the week, our game vs. sparty in crisler will ge sick.  Thats cause they would be 9-8 and wed be 8-9 in the B10.

I want gruden. He has a I want gruden. He has a super bowl ring and has college experience As an assistant - hopefully he can recruit
Grudens recruits I think gruden could be a great fit college- he has college experience and has had success at the highest the highest of levels. The question is will he be a good recruiter because he has been out of college for a little under 20 years of non college coaching. I know his coaching will be fine but will he be able to get the needed talent?
maybe he'll be follow the Brandon Lloyd path

Sure handed big wideout who takes a while to get his chance...best of luck to him.

Go Blue.

Of course I'm not blaming the victim

You'll note that I said that going to the police was DOING THE RIGHT THING. Where do you read in that I was blaming the victim?

I was pointing out the irony of doing the right thing.

Steve Pederson should not be allowed to hire coaches!

First there was the Nebraska fiasco when in error, he hired Bill Callahan instead of Harry Callahan, and now this!

The former Pitt Running back was Craig "IRONHEAD" Heyward.

Sadly I beleive he died of brain cancer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Heyward

Sorry for the downer, but he was a great player and really impressive to watch.

Ironic that the accuser...

It is a sign of today's twisted, money driven world that this would even be a thought, and I'm emarrased that it is my thought but...

It is ironic and sad that by doing the right thing (assuming the domestic violence was real) and going to the police, the accuser may have a large hand in Haywood losing his job and big PAYDAY at PITT.  Haywood's lost income may actually cost the accuser a lot of future child support and potential alimony(?)

Strange but possible.

Must be GREAT recuriter because he wont sub...

I can't believe kdis want to play for a coach that won't sub.  Plays the same 5 or 6 kids all the time!

dooms the team to late folds in big games becasue they are worn down.

Jerod Ward came to UM with the "Fab 5 v2".

He was the #1 player in the country, said he went to bed the night before signing day and that Jesus (played in that dream by Ed Martin) directed him to go to UM in his sleep.  He was in the class with Mo Taylor, Maceo Baston, Willie Mitchell and others.  This was just before Lou Bullock and Tractor Traylor came to UM and just before the whole Ed Martin thing blew up...You know the rest.

I think Travis Conlin (current coach/staffer) started at UM about the same time.

Strong, Very Stong!

A good laugh!

Good to hear that the game will be well attended...

When I saw the 2:00 time on 12/28  with students out of town and locals on vacation I had a vision that the game would be attended primarily by NOBODY...Thank goodness this is not the case.

It shows what a good start, new faces and good marketing can do.  Now lets hope for another quality performance by the team.

GO BLUE!

I'm guessing the Smotrycz will have a big game.  Purdue doesn't have much size outside of Johnson.  ES could be a tough guy to cover.

What is up with the SE MI media?

What a complete deterioration of the news business.  Today on the MGo Board we've gotten a video from Pat Kaputo and now this garbage from Neal Rubin.  What's with the hate, the lack of information and the the lack of insight?  It makes sense that the newpaper business (around here at least) is going out of business. Thanks Jim Carty, Mitch Albom, Mike Rosenberg

I don't want info that just agrees with my views, but info that provides insight and analysis at a higher level would go along way.  Not this Neal Rubin garbage. He is like a cartoon charactor.

I asked it earlier and I'll ask again:

Is there a good source of facts, info and insight in the area (outside of the mgobloggers) and WTKA in the mornings?

Belichick has nothing to do with the search...

It was a comment on Casserly's low credibility as a source for information.

Belichick thinks Casserly's opinion is worthless.  If BB thinks CC is an unreliable source, than I think CC is an unreliable source.  Hence the most recent Harbaugh rumors (generated by CC) are not from a reliable source and should be ignored.

To be clear though BBs comments about CC were NOT about the UM coaching search.

Feely created depth at UM in 97

You may remember that...

On the national tilte team in 1997 Jay Feely was the back up kicker to Kraig Baker.  Feely was thought to have the  stronger leg (he kicked a 51 yarder) but Baker got most of the FG (14/19) and EP (35/37) attempts.

Maybe IF Broekhuizen and/or Gibbons improves and Goudis is good, we might actually have a '97 like kicking situation in a year or two.

Wouldn't that be a great surprise?

Go Blue, beat MSU

Bill Belichick doesn't think much Charley Casserly!!!

Regarding a Patriots related matter...

His analysis, however, was refuted by Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who stated,

"Who's been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins? Wherever he's been, whatever he's done, his percentage is like a meteorologist...at least he put his name on it and I'll put my name on it and say, like he usually is, he's 100-percent wrong."

I trust Belichick more than Casserly

Go Blue, beat MSU!

Is there a good, smart, insightful local media person?

I am so tired of these MORONS (a person having an intelligence quotient of between 50 and 70, able to work under supervision ) making idiotic statements, predictions offering substandard analysis based on questionalbe 'facts'.

Is there a good, smart, insightful local media person worth following?

He fits what we lack....Hope he commits too!
We can't forget about that field...

Agree with everything you say..

In addition we can't forget about having to play on that ugly blue BSU  field, vs playing at the Big House

or having to wear those silly BSU uniforms and helmets vs the maize and blue with winged helmets

Go Blue

Check out these two SI articles about little receivers

I too get frustrated with recruitment small slot receivers when we seem to have other, more pressing needs. On the other hand, maybe RR knows what he's doing...

Do You See What He Sees?

It takes an audacious imagination for a 5'9" football castoff to view himself as an NFL difference-maker. But Patriots receiver Wes Welker has always envisioned the world as it might be, turning possibilities—no matter how unlikely—into reality

Not using a 1 or 2 inch tee is a big adjustment ...

for some kids coming out of HS.  Like hitting a fairway wood. Maybe this is Gibbons problem.

No matter the cause, its pretty amazing that he was rated by Rivals on 1/28/09 as having the 3rd strongest leg of all HS kickers and now he can barely generate enough power to kick an EP into the netting!

Foget about football pedegree, that guy....

is straight out of central casting for seemingly helpful neighbor who turns out to be a total pychopath!! Look at those eyes...

" he's got lifeless eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'. The ocean turns red, and despite all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they... rip you to pieces."

Ignorance of the law...

Is only an excuse if you can bring in CA$H for the man!

Good point,

I agree.  But I also think the media is fickle and is easily swayed by losing.  If, however unlikely it seems now, IZZO has a bad season (19-12, out early in the tourney) and a couple more player issues surface... the media could go into attack mode.  Blaming his romance with Cleveland or something...  Actually, i guess that's just wishful thinking.  But then again it can change fast.

Tyrone Wheatley's son is an 8th grader...

My son played 7th grade hoops for a local A2 middle school last winter.   Most of the kids were 5'0" to 5'9" or so, age 12 or 13.  Some kids had grown/matured while others were still little kids.  My son's team played 2 games against the  Clague middle school team.

Tyrone Wheatley's son (TJ) played on the Clague team.  He was about 6'2" 170 lbs and very well put together.  Built like a young Tyronne.  He was an unbelievable athlete.  Biggest, strongest, quickest, fastest and most coordinated kid I've seen.   His voice hadn't changed yet.   I think his mom was a pretty good college hoopster herself.  I'm guessing he has moved to SYR, but i'm not sure.

It will be intersteing to see how he develops.  I wouldn't be surprised if he is a kid that shows up on all the recruiting sights in football or basketball in a couple of years.

It would be cool if he ended up at MI.

Seems like IZZO is having more personel problems...

The unnamed players involved in the rape thing, Derrick Nix leaving/rejoining the team, Chris Allen getting booted, Korrie Lucious drunk driving now this 1 day suspension.  Its more than we are used to from IZZO.  When you only have 12-13 players on a team, that's a pretty high percentage of kids with issues.

On the other hand, it is nothing compared to the Dantonio.  He probaby gets a bonus if he keeps the arrest count under 50% of the roster.

Stevie Brown is in the picture

Can you believe he starts for the Raiders as a rookie?  Someday we'll look back at the talent on that D and say" how were we so bad":

BG,

StevieB,

Mike Martin,

JoMouton,

Donovan Warren,

TWoolf,

RVB... Oh yeah, we actually had a place kicker and a Zoltan

Baffling!

I miss those days

So much talent, what a team!

Many players on that team went on to have long productive NFL careers...amazing.

Very cool!

My favorite aspect of the hit....

My favorite aspect of the hit is ALL of it, but especially the part at the end where to push himself up BG uses Winston's head for leverage and pushes GWs head into the ground.

This gives GW a moment to collect his thoughts and fillings and think about the kids he beat up in the dorms and wonder if it was worth it....

Great hit!

I remember the hit well and have described it ....

I remember the hit well and have described it to my 13 yesr old son as the most brutal, but legal hit I have ever seen.  I really thought that one or both of the players would suffer permanent damage.  It was after that hit (before I knew of the outcome to the players) that I felt like we would not lose a game that year.

The good part is that no one was permanently injured (as far as I know), though, sadly, two college football careers ended.  The human body can only withstand so much, luckily and somewhat surprisingly...they're bodies survived that one.

I hope Bama cares enough to try...

I hope Bama cares enough to try...I remember the Sugar bowl game against UTAH where the Tide mailed it in and got beat 31-17.

Let's hope Saban gets 'em fired up for a serious beat down...

42-13 sounds awesome!

How much success will it take for this guy to stop complaining? He wins 88 in row and complains about too much attention? Or the wrong kind of respect beause he coaches women?  Coach men then.

Proud we're NOT using the WISKY template

Proud were NOT using the WISKY template. I hate it that Wisconsin plays weak teams prior to the Big Ten goes undefeated and unnoticed. Though they played ASU this year, that seems to be the exception. On the other hand, if ND gets good again..adding teams like Georgia, 'Bama, along with NEB (in the big ten) to MSU,OSU,IOWA, occasionally PSU and Wisc could make for a brutal schedule. Could be tough, but I'd rather win a title the way we did in 97, then to win it on a soft schedule.

Smotrcyz is a potential difference maker...

Smotrcyz is a potential difference maker because of his size, shot and smarts(?).  He hasn't earned the attention that the other starters have earned, but he really makes us bigger, and adds another prospective shooter.  With a 6'9" wing (ES) and Morgan or Horford inside, we actually have a little bit of size on the court.

Granted he has been inconsistant so far, but he is just a freshman.  We'll see how he develops, but he shows glimpses of real potential.  Today he showed some fiestiness too.

He seems to made for teh Beiline system.

That was high quality hoops...

That may have been the best effort I've seen since the NCAA tourney games against Clemson and OU in 2009.

When (if) we hit 3s early, the whole floor opens up,  suddenly lanes to the basket are availble, and the draw and dish is there.  The whole game changes.

The organiztion,  hustle and effort on D was really good as well.

Lots of fun!

Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Agreed, he looks really tired...

No mater what your views of the coaching situation, you've got to feel bad for what the guy has been though.

Personally, I'd like to see the RR stay and have the opportunity finish what he's started...let Denard's class reach their potential...

But man, he sure looks like he is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders

Not sure if this will work but try this:

Actually, the NBAs horrid officiating in ALOT of key games and series...It would never make it out of the production room, as ESPN carries the NBA, but (as you all know)  there have been a ton of horrible calls that have dramaitically affected outcomes!
