Double Standard?

Isn't the reviewing of punches on video the reason we had the RR and Hope issue? We had a player suspended a game for a punch vs. ND and the following week RR basically forced the hand of the BIG 10 to look into the Purdue player doing the same thing. This begat the famous scene where Hope brings the player up to RR in an attempt to embarass him (RR).

So, is it now ok to throw punches or is it time and place dependent?

Have we met?

Or are you following me as I drive my 78 Camaro and listen to 8-tracks of Steely Dan?

Excellent!

You nailed it! I have felt the same way since I can't remember when. It starts with the AD and cascades down through Hoke and the assistants, and I now fear the players. The attitude that "we are doing the right things", "we're a few plays away", and my favorite - "we just need to execute better". These are just excuses and a symptom of a far larger problem that afftects our footbal team - we don't have the toughness and mental fortitude to fight through issues that impact every team, every year. It has become a culture of mediocrity, where we talk more about the past than the future.

Hoke could take several lessons from the basketball program - make adjustments to style, jettison coaches who don't measure up, and teach toughness and accountability.

Lack of Hope....

The lack of hope has to do more with the fact that fans of this program have not seen improvement on the offense. In fact, it's been regression since ND. Why? We don't know because our coaches think everything is "good" and the play-calling is "good" and we just need a little better "execution". What would make anyone believe that an increase in age will make any of these players better?

Is it Christmas morning???

I will end up just commenting in a similar fashion as everyone else but, who cares? I rarely comment and this is just too good to pass up.

While I cannot fathom that he would be so insanely stupid to have said this in public, in front of an audience of people his job performance relies upon, a part of me believes this based on his mind-numbing hatred of Michigan. He just saw an article in the paper this morning that talks about Michigan's top-rated 2012 class being all but finished except for a few possibilities. What does he have? A class rated in the top 30 to 50? What else is he going to talk about except the past? He knows the best is behind him and he has to stare at 10+ years of Hoke, Urban, and Kelly? Let the career meltdown commence in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Did Dempsey make up lies?

According to your theory Dempsey is on a witch hunt and sold the OSHAA a bill of goods and there is no truth to the stories? I think what's sad is that Joe is a CCHS grad and former head coach and wants to blame on his problems on CCHS.

What really happened is that:

1)  coaches from all over the area got tired of Joe beating them and started passing the evidence on to the OSHAA

2) parents of some of the kids who have grown up in the district complain  b/c their kids don't play b/c transfer students take their spots (including his own son the QB who continued to live in MI and play football in Ohio)

Joe will be for a rude awakening with a program and talent several layers below Div 1 football in Ohio and no way to improve the quality. Joe was a marginal coach at best before he came to Whitmer.

I just shed a tear!

So awesome! I love that he told him to go away. What an awesome example of the power of Michigan. Kudos to Jack Miller  for being a great host.

Drew Sharp Drew Sharp wrote it. Only person I know who has that much hate in them.
Best part

The best part of this article was the comment section from a Buckeye fan who said that the scandel was all part of the Ohio leadership's desire to bring Urban to Ohio. They put it into motion and fed Tressel to the wolves.

God help us all that there are fans that believe that.

Great point about Fickell

I know this is big-boy football but Meyer comes off like a douche if he is seen as working behind the scenes when Fickell still has the job and no annoucement has been made.

Could be a nice rallying cry for Fickell to get the Bucks wound up for the game.

Help with Understanding

Can anybody help define what his injuries were from the crash?

I know psychologically and emotionally it has to have been hell.

To the OP: Jayme's a good kid

To the OP: Jayme's a good kid who did have issues at SFS. He's in a better position now and at a school and with a coach that gets kids into DI programs.

Be careful about citing "character" when your school is now seen as the dirtiest program around with a coach who resigned partly because of the type of program he ran and the consistent losing that has occured in his two years as coach.

At the game

At the game and saw up close how much bigger he can actually get. Could not run down plays from behind so he may need to work on that.

What I found interesting is that Joe Palka, the Whitmer coach kept his starters in until 2:00 left in the game. It could have been a disaster if one of his top players had gotten hurt.

BTW, Central scored two touchdowns with their 2nd teamers against the Whitmer 1st teamers (including Wormley). Central pulled their starters down 31-7 at the beginning of the 4th.

I've Never Understood That How does OSU, Sparty, UW winning make it better for Michigan? I can't root for the Big 10 in bowls. I can't turn it off and on based on the opponent or the calendar. It sucks that UM has gone in the tank the last two years but the Big 10 winning bowl games won't make it easier for me to handle. I also subscribe to the theory that Big 10 teams winning actually hurts us in the long run with recruiting and national perception.
Wait for it..... The long pause on the shot of Tebow and Urban in a "man-grasp" looking longingly in each other's eyes at the end of the game. It happens win or lose. Then the announcers saying it has been a pleasure covering such a fine young man for 4 years and wishing he could stay in college football forever.
Barwis Is The Reason For The Season Maybe these recruits see/hear about the high-caliber NFL talent that come back to Barwis for summer workouts and draft prep and recognize the benefits of 3-4 years in his program? Like RichRod maybe everyone needs to give Barwis his time with "his" recruits to make the full impact?
