As has been reported multiple times in Chicago, Cutler has a springing clause in his contract that takes effect in March if he is hurt at the end of the season. The clause entitles Cutler to an extra $10 million. The Bears, unsure at this point of their coach, QB, or general direction, saw the benching as a way to ensure the clause would not be enacted. Can't get hurt if you're not on the field.
Aaron Craft's last game vs. Michigan ends in epic fail. Fate, karma, kismet all come home to roost. The poster child for the program ends up being the subject line of a thousand posts. Life is beautiful. Well, except in the Craft household. Well, that and in Bruce Pearl's living room, too.
Will someone with any sense of legitimate officiating please explain how a travel was not called on Ross? I don't understand how that was missed? I am being half way serious. I thought that by the third step the ball had to be out of your hands. Am I wrong?
Look at the current baseball roster and you clearly see 15 or so Michigan men needing to go by the time the roster is set next year. It's the way in which the SEC does it. You can be honest, which it seems like Bakich is doing, but when you trump up the injuries... Speaks to character.
but there are more than a few players on the current ND roster who struggled academically. Mightily at that, so while ND may maintain high entry requirements in general, their athletes are certainly not beholden to that standard. Once accepted, different story....
I will only take this seriously when we begin to make seniors legally change their last name for a year to honor the Legends. Numbers are just numbers. Letters are better.
It is sometimes very easy to say these kids should just go out and compete for a spot at a big-time program (not negging you at all, cuz I am guilty of same), as if effort alone might somehow override other failings and smooth, hurry, improve, etc., transitions.
We all get that this kid has an attitude and some apparent talent. Hope he gets an advocate to get his head screwed on right, too.
No matter where you are at, who leaves his teammates in the middle of practice? I just feel bad for these guys. Something is clearly just not right.
I love the way Hoke speaks! Does this guy ever say the wrong thing? I can imagine a B1G coaches meeting and his presence being the utmost. Meyer will NOT come in and be the biggest thing in the conference.
Is there any way to get the replay official's take on why Hemmingway's TD wouldn't have counted? His knee was down and controlled the football. Isn't that a TD in college football? I get that the ball hit the ground, but it was still in his hands and it never moved once. Just wanted to hear why the replay guy thought it was inconclusive.
but I think last night proves there are more than a few guys who are getting "close" to earning it. Think back to all the big catches sans the bomb to Junior over the middle of the field. All required pretty decent adjustments made by the WRs to the balls thrown by Denard, most of the comeback and get it variety. Seemed to be a lot of 50/50 balls that the wideouts did a nice job on.
I am with you if you're thinking is that there isn't that one "guy" yet, but Junior is close and, heck, Gallon had a monster night, too! His catch and juke at the end was major. I am very pleased with the receiving corp in place.
USC suspends it's HC going into a conf tourney game they needed to win as a bubble team DUE TO AN ARGUMENT!!!!
Now I get that USC is trying to clean up it's image, but they suspended their coach for the entire PAC 10 tournament because their coach got into a verbal altercation with a fan. Turns out to be one-and-done, but they didn't know that going in. And they did it at the most critical juncture of their season with a lot on the line. Does that send a message?
OSU suspends Tressel for one more game than Kevin O'Neill and it comes during the easiest part of their schedule ... and for playing kids all year that should not have been playing ... and he lied about ... several times ... representing that school in Ohio ...
When was the last time you could say that USC's ethics clearly outshone OSU's???????
The NCAA is going to hammer Ohio State. It's going to be ugly...
Like RichRod, Hendry had great "moments" of success in prior gigs that bred certain habits and theories. Hendry and RichRod won't change who they are. Both will hang their respectives hats on being so close the pinnacle of their sport without ever seeing the reality of their situation. They are fighters fighting, blind to what exists outside the ring of their world, trying to survive to battle back in the next round. Looking FORWARD to the next round.
Blame leadership if you must blame. Michigan waited too long with Carr and then tragically brought in someone who never had a realistic shot (but would fight til the end). The Cubs laid their fortunes at the feet of the trade deadline gods hoping to find this generation's version of Rick Sutcliffe and
exorcise the demons of Leon Durham in postseason play. These are the moments Bill Shakespeare lived for.
Like every other team before them, they discovered, too late, that leadership is not restricted to age (Jonathan Toews) and there is no substitute for talent (Tim Lincecum). Sorry for the crossover again.
Doom may come as kittens, birds, or men in under armour, but it will find you because you invite it. You breed it by turning a blind eye to what is right.
Hoke is on the right path. Hendry? Not so much. Michigan wins NC before Cubs WS.
The one and only spot where true freshmen can come in and be productive in virtually any system. You don't have to be as physically mature and being on offense versus defense is a huge help, I.e. no read and react.
If Hoke doesn't think he fits his ideal mold as a WR, I would rather wait for the coaching staff to find the right guy, even if it is a freshman.
So be it. Some may be more inclined to develop a better perspective of the American penal system or experience a personal and intimate experience within the confines of a collegiate health care facility. That is their choice. Through it all, U-M is U-M and those who stay (and commit) will indeed be champions on the field and off. You don't want to be a Michigan Man, go somewhere else and be a wannabe.

Carry on.
Someone had to say it.

Think Hoke would go after Meyer first????

And there's no guarantee that even if BOTH flags are thrown that Michigan scores in either instance.
The refs ineptitude is only exacerbated by Michigan's poor play.

was going to erect a statue recognizing his/the team's achievements on campus. Not OT. Nice sharing.

Until I realized this was women's soccer. And then turned on a WNBA game via Tivo. Next.
