Who would you like to see do a SB Halftime show?

My significant other said Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw would do a great job, be non controversial and appeal to a lot of people. That’s not my style of music, but I could see that being well liked. I would like to see a tri fecta of Eminem, Nelly and Weezer. Who ya got?

That halftime show was trash. I like rap, but I’m not sure that’s what that was. Rappers today lack individual style. It makes me mad. Maroon 5 is just kinda blah and standard boring music to me.

Don't ever post again.

3 Stacks is not even arguably one of the greatest rappers of all time. He IS one of the great rappers/lyricist of all time.

Debate all you want on where to rank him. But he's on the list. Biggie, Pac, Jay-Z, Nas, Em, Wayne, Cube, on and on...put in whatever order you want, but Andre 3000 is in every debate.

That's like saying Tom Brady sucked. He may not be the best football player of all-time, depending on who you ask. But no one can say that he's not in the discussion. Even if you hate his guts, he's still on the list...just last on that list.

Not even close to his best work, but I had to listen just because your comment was so idiotic that I needed to balance myself.

A lot of rappers turned it down due to Kaep.

You don't get paid and if you don't have an album to promote, it's really not even worth it. Especially when a decent amount of your fanbase is in full protest mode.

Best to just leave it alone.

The rapper could've been T.I., Jeezy, Gambino, Gucci...no one was touching that halftime show this year. Besides, you really think they're going to let Donald Glover get up there and start rapping "THIS IS AMERICA..."

When you say, “due to Kaep,” it makes it sound like somehow a guy that literally knelt down on a football field years ago is somehow responsible for the NFL’s selection of halftime show performers. I don’t actually think that’s what you are saying, and I’d recommend reframing your discussion. While Kaep may have been a trigger, he is by no means a cause.

I do not think he's suggesting Kaep is responsible for the NFL's selection...the opposite actually. Kaep's actions, either purposefully or not, rightfully or not, contributed to a divide between black individuals and Goodell/NFL. Because of that, many hip hop artists either stand with Kaep and would refuse the opportunity to play at the Super Bowl as a social statement, or are indifferent but do not want to alienate their listening base.

So, I think you're both saying the same thing to each other but in different ways.

That is exactly what he is saying.  The Kaepernick national anthem kneeling and surrounding fallout/controversy limited the pool the NFL was picking from for half-time entertainment because a large contingent of artists did not want to be affiliated with the NFL product for various and differing reasons and the backlash they would have received from their fan-base.

Why do you think Was-Never-Any-Good-And-Has-Not-Been-Remotely-Relevant-for-5 years-Maroon-5 was the act they landed?  Because Maroon 5 is absolutely awful and could not possibly say no to a Super Bowl act.

How is that a controversial position?  It is like, factual.  Is it just a fact he is not allowed to say?

It's kind of true...but it's a shitty reason to not like rap.

It's like saying football or basketball players lack originality. Well, of course they do...they're just copying what was before them and putting their own little spin on it.

Even J. Cole's newest song he says...

"To the OGs, I'm thankin' you now
Was watchin' you when you was pavin' the ground
I copied your cadence, I mirrored your style
I studied the greats, I'm the greatest right now
"

So yeah, it's not overly original, but J. Cole is great in ANY era of rap. Like LeBron is great in ANY era of basketball or Brady in football. Brady copied Joe Montana, his idol, we going to knock him for that?

There's more bad rap now than ever, but originality is a dumb reason to throw shade at the entire genre.

Went to the Super Bowl.  On Saturday, the Foo Fighters actually played the Super Saturday DirecTv event at Atlantic Station in Atlanta.  They killed it.  They covered Queen and brought Roger Taylor our to play drums.  They then covered Metallica and brought Zac Brown from the Zac Brown Band and Tom Morrello from Rage Against the Machine on stage...and then Perry Farrell from janes Addiction got on stage and joined in with everyone.  It was such an incredible show and jam session.  Adam Levine sounded awful in person and was such a disappointment to see.  Foos made fun of the halftime show on Saturday night.
