Which LB commits first? Do we take 2??
February 25th, 2012 at 12:43 PM ^
I really hope we take two. It would be silly to turn one down becuase if you look at the break-down, we have a couple of spots to take the "best avaliable".
February 25th, 2012 at 12:49 PM ^
we take at least 2.
LB is a spot I rather be stacked at than not.
February 25th, 2012 at 12:51 PM ^
but considering the class we had in 12, i think its safe to say that I wont view taking either EJ or McCray as a failure.
Think we need ot grab a MLB, as SLB and WLB seem pretty well stocked with Ryan, Clark and Ross, Ringer and Jenkins-Stone

February 25th, 2012 at 1:14 PM ^
Also, Frank Clark is a weak side defensive end. I'm with WolvinLA2: SAM is our only true need. I bet we take a SAM and then a second "best-available" LB
February 25th, 2012 at 6:15 PM ^
I need an explaination on how one person better suited to be a Sam than a Will.
February 25th, 2012 at 9:47 PM ^
Sam, strongside, bigger LB
Will, weakside, faster LB
February 25th, 2012 at 5:26 PM ^
Keep me abreast of any new updates, even 2.
February 25th, 2012 at 11:15 PM ^
At least two at every position, so we need LBs.
Michigan should grab 2 or 3 this year -- yes!!
February 25th, 2012 at 12:49 PM ^
think considering the OL class we have that we might take 2 LBs..
We have apparently 20-22 schollies, and 13 commits.
Depending on attrition that means we ahve anywhere from 7 to 9 spots.
Figure well take
2 DTs
2 CB/S's
1-2 WR
1 RB
0-1 TE
2 LBs
Also seems we might take 2 WRs.
Seems a lot of this depends on who and when.
February 25th, 2012 at 11:18 PM ^
I have asked him three times, what number does he hear?
He was the one who was right on our 2012 number, back when most people here never thought it would get that high .. and he keeps telling me 23, so I am going with the idea that Michigan has 10 spots left. And with those spots...
2 WR
1 RB
2 LB
3 DL
2 DB
And we could easily go 3 LB, 2 DL .. we really need depth.
February 25th, 2012 at 12:50 PM ^
I'd prefer Levenberry if it was only one, but I wouldn't complain with either. Getting McCray out of Trotwood-Madison is important to that pipeline.
February 25th, 2012 at 12:57 PM ^
I think we def take 2 LBs, but both will be of the elite/highly rated type.
One thing that hasn't been talked about, a 2nd QB...I love Shane, and I think he will be all awesome, but injuries happen during football game, and only having one scholarship player (Bellomy) backing him up makes me nervous
February 25th, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
Bellomy has been getting nothing but praise from the coaching staff. Having him as our back up to Shane doesn't worry me at all. If for some reason we lost two of our schollied Qb's in one season whether the third had a schollarship or not I think we would be in trouble.
February 25th, 2012 at 1:17 PM ^
Not trying to criticize Bellomy at all...but I do disagree about 3rd string QBs...
From both a general competing for your spot in practice makes everyone better standpoint AND an Oh Sh!t, 3rd stringer has to play out this game, I think the 3/4 star scholly player has a better chance of handling that than someone noone knows outside the QB coach
February 25th, 2012 at 3:38 PM ^
I wouldn't assume Bellomy will be the back-up to Morris. He has two years on Shane in learning the offense and getting stronger. He could very well be our starter for a couple years. The kid is a good athlete and very intelligent.

so where do those two LB play? inside or outside?
February 25th, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
Outside, except for the odd Fiesta or Sugar bowl.
February 25th, 2012 at 12:59 PM ^
I want:
2 LB's (I really like that Adam kid out of PA that we recently offered. He'd be a great SAM, and Levenberry or D. O'D.)
3 Receivers (Dukes, Treadwell, Quick)
1 RB (Ty Isaac)
2 DT
1 CB
February 25th, 2012 at 12:59 PM ^
Sam has mentioned 2 or 3 on the radio.

February 25th, 2012 at 1:04 PM ^
Three is not always better than two. We will take two based on the need! The need at other positions is greater after last year's crop!
February 25th, 2012 at 1:09 PM ^
Dorian Odaniel? i do believe we lead for him as well.
February 25th, 2012 at 1:10 PM ^
I believe SAM is the position that the team really needs at LB in this class, as the players from last class project more to MIKE and WILL. From what I've read, Levenberry and McCray project as SAMs, while O'Daniel is more of a WILL. With 4 who project to either the middle or weak side, I'd think you want 2 who project to the strongside LB spot this year.
February 25th, 2012 at 1:11 PM ^
Are we in on any highly ranked DTs?
February 25th, 2012 at 1:29 PM ^
I know Poggi is high on Michigan. Don't know of any other big DTs who have Michigan high on their lists, but there are definitely plenty of offers out to top DTs. One from Alabama visited recently, and I believe Greg Webb from NJ is visiting as well.
February 25th, 2012 at 5:47 PM ^
Isn't Poggi leaning towards Bama?
February 25th, 2012 at 1:17 PM ^
WR(2) - TREADWELL, QUICK, (maybe berekly edwards if we offer i think he would work great in the slot)
RB(1) - ISAAC, D. SMITH, D. GREEN
LB(1-2) - LEVENBERRY, GEDEON, O'DANIEL, McCRAY
DT(1) - CRAYTON, POGGI, WEBB
DT(1) - LATHAM, VANDERDOES
TE(1) - MATUSKA, SMYTHE
CB(1) - CONLEY, BUTLER, FULLER
This puts us at or around 20-21. I think getting some combination of these players would be my ultimate dream haha we stand in really good position for 90 percent of them. Levenberry-gedeon are sams while o'daniel-mccray are mikes. imo. we could also see michigan pull another quarterback to reach the estimated maximum of 22 players most likey a 3 star like bellomy.
February 25th, 2012 at 4:45 PM ^
Nice complete list. I would only add Orndoff the Gronk-like TE who we are trying to pry away from the Badgers. Gedeon & Levenberry look like SAMs (as does RJS from 2012), while O'Daniel is an ILB (MIKE or WIL). IMHO McCray is OK but not in the same class as the others.
Sorry - when the site was overloaded (with Kugler-type glee) this post kept gettng repeated.
February 25th, 2012 at 2:57 PM ^
Bring back Chip!
February 25th, 2012 at 3:37 PM ^
According to Josh Hemholdt and a couple others at Rivals. Levenberry, O'Daniel and Gedeon are the likely ones.
February 25th, 2012 at 4:05 PM ^
...does anyone even know a McCrath?
February 25th, 2012 at 4:24 PM ^
Levenberry will be up for the Spring Game and seems to be a UM-FSU battle..O'Daniel i feel may take all his visits..Gedeon will likely be a OSU-UM battle..and McCray has UM at the top now but when he gets his OSU offer it may become a tough battle as he is a teammate of Cam Burrows
So if i had to guess id say Levenberry is the 1st LB in the class..but its recruiting

It's hard to say which I want more between O'Daniel and McCray. I've really liked O'Daniel all along, and it would be great to solidify our place at Good Counsel, but with all the positive feelings flowing in Ohio right now it would be great to steal McCray from them and show Urban he can't just sit around and handpick his players at the end of the year.
