What is Your Favorite Vacation Spot (and what is on your BBQ and in your glass)?

Mates,

Another summer weekend is here.  We were swimming in a local lake and then I just had an ice cream cone, the kind you get up north, where a 'small' is the size of the Bell Tower down in AA.  Vacation time is usually summer time and it got me to thinking, if/when you get to go on a vacation, what is your favorite place to do so?  Is there a country/city/lake that has been your 'go to' spot when you could slip away?   Is there a long-held family place that holds special memories and you want your kids to have some of that, too?  Or maybe there's some exotic places you've been or are headed to that were dynamite.

Tonight's questions are:

1.  What is your favorite vacation spot, and why, what makes it your favorite?

2.  What is on your BBQ and/or in your cup, perhaps even an adult beverage in your vicinity?

Have a great weekend,

XM

1. Ocracoke island.  my family used to head out there once a summer when I was kid.  It's just one of those warm hugs of a place.  Sunny beaches, good sandbar for surfing, amazing food.  Windows open for an ocean breeze at night while you play cards with friends.  You can only get to it via ferry so it's far less crowded than most of the outer banks. When I have tough day at the office I look up real estate listing there and dream of retirement.

2.  Eastern Caroline style pulled pork, cole slaw, all on a steamed bun, the cheaper the better.  A glass of Blanton's with some cracked ice and a Yuengling keeping it company.

I'm a week out from taking the family on a trip to the outer banks and I've got to say this thread is making the fact that I'm working all weekend to pull this off way easier.

I live in South Carolina so plenty of great vacation spots nearby. Our absolute favorite place to go though is Charleston, specifically to the Isle of Palms. We love the beaches there and its close enough to Charleston to run into town and do touristy things at any point. Beautiful old colonial town with lots of history.

BBQ? Around these parts no need to make your own, just head to Shealy's BBQ and get all you want from their buffet. You won't be disappointed.

1) Favorite spot would be Zion. Truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. We’re currently in New River Gorge. Hiked Endless Wall today and doing some whitewater rafting tomorrow.

2) drinking an IPA from free folk brewery.

Mullett Lake, northern Michigan, in mid August when water temps are fine and the sunsets are incredible. Love the Aloha State Park party store for ice cream and selection of beers and liquor.
