I don't think he hates Jim.

I just think he's part of the old guard who would rather be loyal to the NCAA's arcane policies than to his coach who turned this program around and wants his AD to have his back.

Just try telling your spouse that you'll "wait and see" whether you're going to support them, and see how that goes. That's pretty much Warde

What fans don't or won't understand is that signing a contract is a two way street.   Signing a contract extension is on Jim at this point.  He obviously hasn't ruled out a NFL return and his current status gives him the power and flexibility to ultimately do what he wants.

Bingo. As much as Harbaugh doesn’t care about the money, he would have an insane amount of leverage following a national title to get whatever it is he wants. Be in assistant salary pool, NIL backing, or whatever.

And as I’ve pointed out in the past, he IS under contract through 2026. With the current deal, he’s set to make $7.2 million in base pay this season. He made an extra $1.5 million for making and winning the Big Ten title ($8.7m). Another $500k for making the CFP ($9.2m). While a win on Monday nets him an additional $1m and a team APR grade of 960+ gives him an additional $150k (they do every year). So he’s already locked in for ~$9.4 million and he’s coaching for another million on Monday.

So the rush to sign a new contract isn’t really there on his end. He is well compensated and he’s under contract for multiple years. The contract doesn’t do a whole lot except put the minds of the fans (briefly) at ease. You can argue it’s necessary for recruiting if you want, but that’s not how it’s worked out in the past. It hasn’t stopped the NFL rumors and hasn’t stopped him from entertaining NFL teams. If the contract extension is necessary for recruiting, we’d need him to sign a new one every year.

I saw the post game hug and chat. I gotta say it looked like Jim fake smiled because as soon as warde walked by his face dropped. Reading into it maybe but... Still looked like fake love

How do you KNOW that? So it's very clear?

The man is a former UM football player and has had, to date, a successful career as an athletic director.

Of course, that is not enough for some on this board to question his abilities and love for Michigan athletics.

Now, armchair psychologists question his relationships without knowing the man or his associates.

I'm not saying he is perfect and that his actions as an AD cannot be questioned, but I seriously doubt that anyone on this board or site know or care more about Michigan athletics than he does.

Hopefully this thread does numbers like the threads where the, "We hate Warde for hating Harbaugh" idiots thrive. Wish you goofies would finally stfu disrespecting a real Michigan man. One that actually went and played here. Just stfu. Go Blue

Please explain what else WM can do for you realize that this decision is completely on Harbaugh.  Everyone stated Warde didn’t do anything supporting Jim during signgate, and then he released a scathing letter to the B10.  He has now stated that fans wanted him to fire Jim and he didn’t.  We are all reaping the benefits of an AD that does not make decisions based on emotion.  He just stated his admiration for JH.  They have offered to make him the highest paid coach in college.  Please tell me what else he needs to do?
