UNC student section question

Submitted by rockediny on

Any other UM fans going to be in the student section for the UNC game? I haven't been to a UM basketball game since NC State and haven't been to a home game in years so I plan on being there in my UM gear to support the team. I'm even bringing a German flag to wave whenever Mo scores. Does that sound like a good idea? I'll try my best not to be obnoxious but do any of you think they'll have a problem with the flag?

Edit: I am a student at UNC, it's my first year and I've just never been to a game.

Unless you wear DUKE garb and misbehave.... I will be there and get your back!—Just scream “DEAN SMITH AND PATERNO SUCK!!!” If you get cornered and need instant help... I will call 911 for you.... Go Blue!!!

Please don't go in the student section, we already have a massive shortage of seats.

Also, you need a student ID to get the wristband at the entrance, do you have a plan to make that happen?

I'm a first year grad student but I've lived in NC for a while so I know there are plenty of alums in the triangle area. Furthermore, I know I've seen a few UNC/Wolverine fans like yourself on this board. In fact, you were the person I was thinking of when I created this post, since I knew you are a student too and I was hoping there'd be a few more like yourself.

First of all, apologies. Let's start over.

UNC basketball fans are very much Michigan football fans. You will be absolutely fine in the student section, especially if you don't plan on going in the risers. I'm sure you'll get snarky remarks but nothing to the level that OSU fans would give you.

You won't get into the student section. For reasons mentioned above. But UNC fans are very southern-nice - even to NCST fans. Duke is another story.

I'll be sitting upper level. I'd be able to see Carrboro if Smith Center had winders.

Plenty of good seats in the Dean Dome; sitting in the student section just seems like an aggressive move. I have never been to Chapel Hill as an opposing fan, but have witnessed nothing but class the many times I have gone to games and been around campus. Make sure to have a drink at the Crunkleton. That will take some sting off, as I think Blue is going to be outmatched in the backcourt.

I’d personally check to make sure that’s allowed. I know for the bleachers at Crisler, school colors were required and you’d be removed if you didn’t comply. Kicked out a few against Indiana last year

Have fun and represent. They are crazy for UNC hoops like the SEC is for football. I'm a former student and was there for the Duke game back in 05...easily the loudest arena I've ever been in. Deafening.
