U-M #1 in ESPN Recruiting Rankings

Submitted by San Diego Mick on

I Just watched ESPN Top 150 Show and they have M as #1 recruiting class. Pretty cool to be thought of that way and can only lead to more positive news going forward, Go Blue!!! Fergodsakes!

It is probably the most benefitial to be ranked #1 by ESPN rather than any other recruiting service.  All the mentions on national TV have to help recruiting in the future.

I'm thinking massington....treadwell....Isaac....possibly a slot type receiver. Land a stud corner....gimme a Poggi and a Tashawn Bower. Cravens is a dream.....sounds like a #1 class to me! Go blue!

There's not a need for a guy like that in this class since we already have Norfleet and Hayes in the fold as underclassmen. We'll probably take a guy like that every other year, if that.

Until Dennis Norfleet plays slot receiver, he's a running back...since that's the position he played in high school and the position Michigan recruited him for.  Nice try, though.

this is certainly cool, but it's all about what happens on signing day next year.  I would say that having the top class is overrated, but Bama just showed us that it's not.

Anyone know when the official class rankings will be released? My best guess would be mid June based on past years. Save 2010, the first iteration of these rankings have been released in June over the last 4 years:

2012: June 23, 2011

2011: June 4, 2010

2010: August 7, 2009

2009: June '08

the top class last year had 12 or 13 top 150 kids and we have 11 already. I doubt we end the year at #1 just because commit kids seem to slide at the end but i still think it will be top 4 or 5.

I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people at ESPN are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start

I watched this thing as well. We're ranked number one, but they said on the show while announcing the rankings that the rankings were based purely on the highest amount of ESPN 150 committs, and they weren't actually ranking the classes. So when they say we're number 1, they mean we have the most 150 committs, it doesn't mean their "experts" so us as number 1 techincally.

Do not let this damper the band to dallas fire. Nothing matters until that happens. I love a strong class but whats it worth without the whole team band included? I get that its next years class but we have short attention spans and this needs resolved now! This is great news and i love the respect we are getting but remained focused.

in light of this, i'm choosing to completely ignore the mathlete's latest post that shows espn is the worst at ranking recruits. clearly his methodology is flawed.

Looking at the class laid out in front of you (link) really demonstrates how dominant Hoke's (and arguablly Shane Morris') recruiting has been for this class. 17 commits, 11 of them ESPN 150 players. 15 of them Four-Star players. All 17 of them are 79 or better. ALL of them.

This isn't just a great class. This is a TREMENDOUS class.

Once levenberry chooses a snowball will come....I dont know if we catch yall but our class should be up there in the top 5..we have 8 commits at this time and will take a full class 27 or so.FSU

Welcome to MgoBlog. Looking forward to some Florida State/ACC perspective from you. Depending on our recruiting classes, maybe we will meet up in a BCS bowl or NCG game down the road.

Predicting Levenberry to Michigan on Tuesday, btw. And I hope that triggers some other commitments down the line.
