Tweet from Harbaugh friend Todd Anson revealing concern with no deal done yet

Hopefully my title is adequate. Didn’t want it to sound like Clickbait but I also wanted to reveal the context of what he said. Anyway, Todd Anson is a Harbaugh super pal. He has seemed quite confident throughout this that he would remain in Ann Arbor. Now it seems as if he has some doubts.

This has been a very strange couple of weeks. Both Webb and Balas have been saying it’s a virtual lock he stays, and hiring Elston last week seemed like it closed the door for most people around here. Yet Pro Football Talk is still reporting he is reaching out to teams as of yesterday and I know a couple people on here have said he will take any NFL offer.

I certainly hope he stays, but if his heart is in the NFL I wish him the best of luck and hope we can find out sooner rather than later.

The raiders job was always the concerning job, that job is now officially going to be on the market. I don’t know why anyone thought it was a done deal before that was settled, and the fact that the extension wasn’t signed this week was clear evidence harbaugh was willing to wait to see what the offer looks like.

If he leaves it’s going to be really depressing. Not because we lose Harbaugh, but because that is essentially confirmation that the powers that be at Michigan will not play ball with NIL. And what that would tell me is that Michigan is not serious about competing for championships, and we’d be on the road to becoming a more talented version of Northwestern.

If that is what Michigan wants then so be it. But it would deserve whatever fallout comes it’s way.

1-5, 3-4, and 1-5. Harbaugh’s performance here has been decidedly mixed. One great season and one poor season thrown in with good-to-average seasons.

Losing Harbaugh wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Especially considering his ties to Bo. Michigan has to make a decisive break with that past now. Hiring someone from outside is probably the best and most healthy thing the program can do.

People don’t want to admit it,but the shame of Anderson and Bo’s complicit lingers over the program. Harbaugh leaving would give them program a chance for a fresh start.

Holy crap, I agree with Salvatore about something. This never happens.

Yep, I was calling for Harbaugh’s head a year ago. Yep, it was a surprising and successful season and Harbaugh finally crossed some achievements off the list. But I don’t think the sky is falling if he leaves. If he truly has a desire to return to the NFL I hope someone hires him.

Raiders announced a half hour ago they are interviewing a position coach from the Patriots that would make them Rooney Rule compliant. Also they are interviewing for a GM at the same time. All else equal this slightly favors an internal hire hypothesis (as a big hire like JH would pick his own GM).

You would think that as smart as Michigan people tell you they are, they would get a “smart committee” and get this NIL figured out but watching how some other things are handled “like the last few presidents” sometimes patting yourself on the back for being smart doesn’t get you anywhere. You need action not talk.

I've met and spoke to Anson three times, and he is as arrogant as they come.  And I highly doubt he would publicly spill anything he actually does know.  But let me say it again, if JH wants out, let him go!  Its not a big deal, PROVIDED THAT Warde doesn't make the crimininally negligent mistake of hiring Gattis, Hart or MacDonald as the HC.

Funny thing is that I think Harbaugh will fail miserably in the NFL if he goes back.  His personality is even less conducive to pro atheletes and his offensive philosophy is largely outdated in the NFL, save for his brother's team (who has a mobile QB).
