TomVH: Graham Glasgow Now a Michigan Preferred Walk On
Someone on Twitter brought it to my attention that preferred walk on Graham Glasgow was listed on the Michigan 2011 football guide. If you remember Glasgow "committed" to Ohio State earlier in the year for the 2011 class.
I'm looking into it right now to figure out what happened and if that's accurate. I don't know why it wouldn't be, and he's also not listed on Ohio State's site either. He's a 6'7", 295 lb tackle from Illinois. I'll let you know when I hear more.
**EDIT**: I confirmed that Glasgow did in fact switch from OSU to Michigan around June.
Sounds like this guy could be a steal, according to his coach and former Wolverine/NFLer Kurt Becker: http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/2011-football-recruiting/623620-11-i…
GG in AA would be a nice, even if unexpected addition!
All of their tackles belong to us. Orlando Pace is also now a Michigan fan.
We're stealin walk ons now? Awesome.
Hello: Graham Glasgow?
Tom, hope all went well with you and MommaVH at the Dr.'s on Friday.
Thank you. Apparently we have to wait two more weeks to find out the gender, but everything else checked out fine.
I'm guessing girl.
I see future 6'3" 220# QB for the Wolverines with a cannon arm and a 4.3 40 time. Seriously though I'm sure Tom and Mrs Tom will be very happy with a happy healthy baby of either gender.
but I'm waiting for THE KNOWLEDGE to predict the gender...
He doesn't predict the gender. He tells us what the gender will be.
hoping for a little VH softball player to tell you the truth.
Wasn't Gunderson the other BIG walk-on?
So just to make sure everyone's on the same page, Glasgow is now a preferred walk on for Michigan instead of Ohio State.
Michigan also took preferred walk on OL Gary Yerden as well. If you remember Yerden was a weight lifter in high school.
I liked reading about Yerden, it is a good story, hope he can contribute at some point.
Yerden and Glasgow fit in girth and muscle...they are going to be solid additions. This is great news.
I passed by Yerden on campus the other day. He is a monster, and has that prototypical OL look. He just looks like a football player. Actually, he looks like he could be a sophomore or junior. Lets just hope that looks aren't deceiving on the field.
Does this have any effect on our pursuit of Diamond?
No, he's a preferred walk on so he doesn't take up a scholarship, which is nice.
I have also heard that both Glasgow and Yerden are doing very well. Yerden is up to 325 right now and has some potential.
Are they on campus participating in off season workouts?
Glasgow has been on campus since the start of the summer session (early july / late june)
I guess my thought was a bit unclear......I wonder if they may attempt to use the remaining scholarships elsewhere if they took two preferred walk-on OLs added onto the solid crop of lineman who are already under scholarship.
No, he's been there since June so this isn't the first they're hearing about it, obviously. The plan stays the same. One more OL if he's one of the top guys.
The video on the link shows a couple of things. His feet look a little slow, but as far as that nasty OL mentality, you can tell he's got it. I think with some good coaching and a little work on his footwork and speed, he could be a starter. Just my opinion and by no means am I an expert.
love the beef Brady is adding to the line!
There is a joke about the Beef O'Brady's bowl in there somewhere but I'm too fried to find it.
With the loss of Pace and our scary OL depth the next 2 years, its nice that the staff has a couple of quality walk-ons who may be very needed in the near future.
names I've heard. It's catchy enough that I think Graham Glasgow was also a new wave band.
that for a guy his size he still has the ability to lay down a funky bass line..... so we have that going for us which is nice

Ewan Edinburgh?
The ancestral home is not far from Ayr, by the way, so it'd be cool to couple Alistair with that, too...
Is Yerden that walk on from Portage (I believe) who broke the state dead-lifting record? Just wondering.
I believe, Or at least it was reported that he set deadlift records every year in high school, but they could have been 4 different records. He's not just a muscle head, though. He played for their varsity basketball team and they won games in the Class C state playoffs so he's an athletic kid too.
Yerden is from Parchment (small city north east of Kalamazoo). And yes he broke the deadlifting record.
I was told that Glasgow did switch because of a combination of the Tressel situation and not knowing what the NCAA will give OSU with their punishment.
Well that certainly wins the most interesting comment of the day.
Love it. Big OL walk ons will be a precious commodity for the year, bridging the gap between the current class and the influx of hyped OL guys coming in a couple years.
How did this guy sneak in undetected? They keep it quiet because of Buckeye backlash?
Has Graham Glasgow suffered any abuse from ohio fans after his switch? ... lol we stole another one... Go Hoke!
Some may have missed this thread and I wouldn't be surprised if a new one starts with a SIAP because everyone's favorite Mark Snyder just barely posted this story on that certain newspaper in Detroit.
Sorry Mark, but TomVH will always beat you.
