Tom's ND scheduling tweet
For those of you that don't follow Tom on Twitter (I admit I don't since I don't have an account, but he's part of my Google Reader feeds).
Here he says that according to this ND is cancelling its 2013 game with Army. Most teams take 2 years to join a conference and one of the reasons that people thought ND wasn't happening is that their OoC schedule would already be set with all of their none-B10 contracts.
And there's been more smoke around the idea of the Big East actually issuing the "get in or get out" ultimatum to ND. Maybe there's fire.
Let the speculation begin. I sure don't have any insider information.
Note: I did a quick search for the link I posted and a few other keyboards. I didn't find anything so I believe this is new to the board. If not, then I apologize for the mistake.
That's what happens when you don't edit before posting.
I guess I was just typing whatever I sa... phone, mug... dead hooker... w around me at the moment. Weird, sometimes I black out and don't know how I... another dead hooker... socks... Prince Albert in a can... I got wherever I am.
Already scheduled for 2013, USC, Oklahoma, UConn, Navy, Arizona State, Boston College, Purdue and UM.
Purdue and UM get resolved pretty easily if ND Joins. However, that still leaves 6 teams that would need to get rescheduled.
its actually 7, I forgot about Pitt as well
I think Pitt still has a legitimate chance at getting added to the Big10, so I'm sticking with 6 teams for sure.
The only way Pitt gets added is if SU, RU, and ND get added. If the Big Ten takes the NY market, Pitt strengthens the NE exposure. Big itself, Pitt doesn't deliver much of anything.
My point is that USC and Arizona State are too far away, Oklahoma and UConn aren't AAU, and Navy and Boston College won't add much and really haven't been considered at all.
Pitt at least has been mentioned, has a good football team on the rise, a great basketball team, good academics, is an AAU member, and adds the old PSU-Pitt rivalry back to the schedule.
What if we add UConn? And maybe this game with UConn is part of an existing flirtation? /tinfoil hat off
UConn's not AAU and neither is Oklahoma. They have about a 1% chance of getting added right now.
