Things Sam Webb Knew About Aubrey Solomon's Recruitment - Including an Apparent Recommitment at the Army Game
If already posted, please delete.
It's free stuff and not an article but a board post. Interesting stuff. Also explains why he didn't do "gut feel". If you feel Najee trolled UM (which Sam says is ridiculous), then this reads as if Aubrey trolled Bama...big time.
Full read here.
- I heard while in San Antonio for the Army All American game that he re-committed to Jim Harbaugh AFTER aplogizing to him for the video snafu...
- Aubrey told the other commits in Michigan's class that week that he was coming to Michigan and he was going to "shock the world"
- Aubrey's coach called me the night of the Army game to say "Aubrey committed to Michigan. He's going Blue!"
- His mom told me on the record she loved the coaches at Michigan. Aafter the interview I got the impression that she wasn't NEARLY as... impressed with another high profile coach.
- I hear Mom was not at all pleased with the Georgia staff after that video came out. They were hurt with her by that.
- Michigan was mom's #1 school by a wide margin.
- Aubrey called up last week to ask Michigan for the #5 (no small shoes to fill there)
- Talked to his coach Friday and again Monday and Tuesday this week. Every time he said it's Michigan.
- I heard from a West Coast source yesterday that the Trojans contacted Lee County yesterday and said they needed an answer within an hour of that message being sent because they had another target n the hook (doesn't sound like a very confident approach to me)
- I spoke to Bama Mag's John Garcia this morning and he said that none of his Tide sources have expressed confidence that Bama is getting him. They'd take him, but it was clear they weren't nearly as confident as they were with Najee.

"Aubrey called up last week to ask Michigan for the #5 (no small shoes to fill there)"
Tate Forcier's 2009 performance against Notre Dame was pretty sweet.

I don't know man....James Whitley was pretty stellar in the ol' #5.
(There may not be a Michigan player I've cursed at more than Whitley. I can't remember shit, but vividly remember he was #5)

ha, he was a very good athlete but i recall muttering quite a few curses re morgan trent

We called him "James Whitley: Future Star of the XFL" and how's THAT for a dated reference?
But let's not kid ourselves; obviously this is about living up to the legacy of Vlad Emilien.

Courtney Avery was... well he had his moments both good and bad. But I will always remember the bad ones!

I'll remember his pick in 2011 to seal the victory over OSU.

Exactly the reason I'm glad Jabrill kept #5 and didn't switch to Woodson's #2. Single digits on huge linemen look awesome.

Yes after the Army game, at least a week after. Massive Troll Job.
I mean Bama still got the sickest class on earth but it's nice to get these small victories.

I would love nothing more than one of these parents just airing out all of the other schools dirty laundry when it comes to recruiting. I would love to hear what those schools offered Rashan last year. I don't think that has really happenned, has it?

Welp, guessing this won't be well received, but not a good look for the kid. Don't care about the "F" Michigan thing, but trolling a school isn't a great look. Even if a school is so richly deserving of it like Bama is.
Leader and best != troll.

Harbaugh trolls people all the time. Sounds like Solomon is a perfect fit for us.
February 3rd, 2017 at 11:59 AM ^
No he doesn't. Trolling is saying or doing something you don't believe just to piss someone off. Harbaugh intentionally pisses people off, but he seems to also believe in what he's doing.
Integrity isn't what it used to be. As in like even 5 years ago. Not specific to Aubrey,j just a general statement.

I'd say with recruiting now, you "find out when the world finds out" on NSD because before that it's all tentative. They "found out" before the world found out with Wilson, until the world found out something different. Can't blame Brown's wording here even if they had a silent commitment from Solomon.
February 2nd, 2017 at 11:50 PM ^
Yeah tough to blame them after getting blindsided by Wilson, who much like Solomon was, was a silent commit going in to his ceremony.
Or so the legend goes, anyways...

Spins a Webb any size, catches recruits just like flies!
February 2nd, 2017 at 11:38 PM ^
but I have little doubt he'd be a great recruiter.

Cesar said at SoS that he knew he was going to Michigan like eight months ago.
I'll bet most of these kids that we were on pins and needles about were already committed weeks if not months ago.
We basically made up our own drama.
It must be fun for these kids to watch us make fools of ourselves.

in the world, but it could only be manned by a man of his confidence. I thought virtually any member of his staff, just by virtue of knowing what goes on behind these incredible decisions he makes and being right there in the thick of Michigan football, partially responsible for that product we see on the field, had to be a solid no. 2, but now I know Sam has the third best job in the world., How many of you could be trusted to hold all that knowledge in? Guess it makes it a lot easier realizing if you break confidentiality, someone else has the third best job. Great story. Program definitely moving ahead in all parts of the country. Every job has its drawbacks, but at this time of the year, whatever they are probably seem meaningless.
