Snowflakes: Announcing

Submitted by Hardware Sushi on
Today was the first time I've ever watched the game on mute. Last week they were brutal and I figured it was just me until Brian said something in his recap.

My girlfriend overcooked for friends giving and was adding unnecessary stress to the room but I put on a playlist and powered thru with my own mental commentary. Anyone else has enough of Brock and Wischusen (sp?)?

had money on PSU. When Dan W  twice said maybe Harbaugh had a point on bad call number 11, Brock was silent even though Dan W was looking for a response. Then at the end he is blaming the PSU coaches. I'm kidding (sort of) but it was just like a guy who had money on the game would sound.

Good lord, Huard is awful. Felt the whole game he just complained that the coaches didn't do what he would have done. If he's the analyst, I want to hear analysis. Explain to me what is going on. I don't want to hear him coach both teams.

Brock was certainly pulling hard for the Nit Lions.  He was constantly talking about how "unfortunate" it was that Michigan was making big plays.

Shoes must be right, he had $ on PSU.

It seemed like they wanted M to lose so badly. The same s*** last week against Indiana. Well, it just goes to show what we bring to the house with Harbaugh and the name Michigan.

The "cereal box" throw comment was the one that put me over the top when it came to the abysmal quality of the announcing. As someone on Twitter rightly said, Huard's basically taking his commentary cues from Cards Against Humanity - it just does not work in football, in my opinion, particularly if you don't have the personality to carry it off.

I listened to Brandy and Dierdorf, even though the radio was 10 seconds behind. I'd rather listen to some friendly voices than the ugly Herbstreit (ie Huard).

Huard, midway through the third quarter: "They need to turn the game over to Saquon Barkley. Just let him run it between the tackles."

(6:00 - 3rd) Barkley, Saquon rush for no gain to the PENNST20, PENALTY MICHIGAN personal foul (Wormley, Chris) 15 yards to the PENNST35, NO PLAY, 1ST DOWN PENNST.

(4:50 - 3rd) Saquon Barkley run for a loss of 3 yards to the PnSt 47

(1:00 - 3rd) Saquon Barkley run for 1 yd to the Mich 41

(14:35 - 4th) Saquon Barkley run for a loss of 3 yards to the Mich 6

(10:00 - 4th) Saquon Barkley run for a loss of 4 yards to the Mich 37

Huard: "Why. Why. Why?"

Wickheisen: "Brock Huard is frustrated."

Huard: "What has happened in the first three and a half quarters that makes you think you can run the ball?"

There's a lot of contemptible second-guessing that goes on in announcing booths and press boxes but nobody's quite as egregious, or as unapologetic, as Brock Huard.
