always have to stop there in Alalabama (just did a couple days ago) and the their breakfast is limited choice, horribly bad for you, and just tastes nasty.

We keep going there because theyre open early, it's at least a known entity, and they have enough space for my 3 little kids to run around.

For the same price & type of food Bob Evans is 10X better, but nowhere to be found on the way to/from the Florida Panhandle.

that are better behaved than most adults.

Still, after 10 hours in the car it's nice to have a resturant that:

1. Is usually set off on a lonely service dive away from traffic (spacious parking & safe)
2. Has a huge deep patio out of the rain for my kids to play around (encouraged by checkers)
3. has a very spacious interior that is always 1/2 empty in the morning.
4. Has big wide aisles between tables for kids to stretch, wiggle, & and find a lap to crawl in.

Even if the food is awful.

I know people like Cracker Barrel, but when my wife asked what the greens were cooked in and the server said "grease, I think", I figured out it wasn't a restaurant for everybody.

"Cracker Barrel beat out chains including First Watch and Shari's Cafe & Pies."

I must be really out of it, because I've never even heard of the second two!

was the next story after Cracker Barrel link and needs mentioning. Kicks Cracker Barrel any day for feeding the family economically. Food is crazy good and stupid cheap.

Pizza, Chicken Baken, Beef Brisket are especially good.Try the berry smoothie too. You don't have to be a member to eat there. $20 feeds a family. They now take credit cards.

Plus if you need like a 5 gallon jar of mushrooms a new flat screen TV you can get that too : )

Last time I was in Costco, a guy was in the food court eating a rotisserie chicken he bought in the warehouse. Just the chicken. No drink. Didn't buy any other items. He went to Costco with the express purpose of buying a whole chicken and eating it on the spot.

But Cracker Barrel serves disgusting food.  At least for lunch/dinner.  It is super cheap for sure, but I'm not sure it is really worth paying for.

Breakfast may be fine.  It's hard to screw up simple breakfast.

Lots of shots taken at CB in here. It's all about expectations. Why would you go into a CB if you wanted a variety of offerings all cooked in fat-free unicorn oil? Go to CB. Get your eggs, bacon, and biscuits on for breakfast or your fried chicken tenderloins/breasts with sawmill gravy on for lunch/dinner washed down by sweet tea. If you want a salad and skim milk, CB is not for you.
