proceded to shank one about 20 yards when Pittsburgh were backed up so it was a fairly bad day for him overall.

I dunno. When CBS showed replays of them from behind, the holds looked just fine. Maybe a little tilted but I don't know if that affects kickers or not.

don't you realize what planet pittsburgh is on? that's right, earth

have an idea if any of this relates to the time he spent as an intern for a private equity firm during the lockout?
The impression I get of the NFL is that coaches don't want a player that isn't 100% into football unless they happen to be an absolute stud. Since a kicker is considered replaceable, any thoughts from a coaching staff that someone isn't fully interested (coupled with a mistake during play) can lead to problems.

I think even someone as smart as Zoltan knows that his NFL value has a very limited time frame and he is all football until the league doesn't want him anymore. I'm sure some team will come calling after an injury.

from what i recall when the pats released him, he was being paid quite a bit for a punter and wasnt really producing very much. i doubt they would cut a player because he took an internship but it certainly wouldnt help him stay on the team

Charities. Both he and Brady very visible supporters of the community

He's been inconsistent in his time in the NFL. He was in or near the bottom 5 for all major punting stats this year, and never really put up great numbers in NE. Great guy, but you need to be consistently great to be a punter in the NFL.

I'm pretty sure he broke all the rookie punting records in NE, maybe he never really kept it up, not sure?

It's not perfect, but it gives an idea.
In his 4 years (from rookie year to this year) he's had a net of: 38.4, 41.5, 37.9, 36.7
With this years numbers that would put him at: 26th, 8th, 29th, 29th.
Again, that's not nearly a perfect way of looking at it, but it kind of shows about where he's been.

Is there such a thing as "successful punt percentage" where a punt is either successful or not? If it gains a net of 45 yds or is downed inside the 15 yard line, it is considered successful. My though is that would be the best indicator.

Too bad, hopefully he lands somewhere. Preferably with a team that I don't hate.
Unfortunately for him, all he's got to fall back on is that finance degree from the business school and that analyst internship.

He's from Twinsburg, Ohio (believe it or not we used to work out together at the Twinsburg Rec Center cause it's attached to the High School and the Browns could make room for a decent punter who's a home-town kid.
Zoltan Mesko come on down!

I liked him!!! He was one of the bright spots of our team this year excluding the Oakland game

face the wrath of the emperor. Planets will collide and next thing you know Pluto won't be considered a planet anymore. Damn. Too late.

The way pittsburgh has been playing they had to make a roster change somewhere right?
