Because threads like this that link to articles like that are fucking useless. Everyone who is a regular reader at mgoblog knows Rich Rod's situation. Rodriguez will be fine at MICH, people just need to have a little bit of faith. 11-2 this year babby.

But, to Romey's point, there are some people who are either (1) interested to read what the linked article has to say, or (2) interested in conducting (even more) discussion on this topic.  If you are not one of them, that is fine, but no need to discourage posts about them.

***Once caveat - if the post does not adequately disclose from its title what it is about, and you waste your time clicking on it only to find out that it is another RR firing thread, then IMO, you have a right to gripe.  Here, the title is so-so.

This story has been going on since 2008, and we've all seen the stories.  At this point, it is just lazy journalism to have a couple of talking heads pontificate about RR's job security when everyone knows what the mandate has been all year - win and show progress.

especially negetive things, they are an excellent motivator. I know that we have a good team and a great coach, our D is inexperienced but they will grow up fast.

This is funny.  One could argue that Michigan has looked more impressive in their 2 losses than their first five wins.

Honestly,

  • UConn's season has fallen apart
  • We barely beat a mediocre ND team with their QB out for a quarter and a half
  • We barely beat 1-AA UMass
  • Bowling Green is the exception, I'll admit it
  • Indiana got pasted by OSU and barely beat Arkansas State

The two teams we lost to are probably going to win the Big 10 and then take second place (when one beats the other) and could easily both wind up top 10 at the end of the season.  This article is garbage.

I think that you actually made a very good point, but perhaps not the one that you were trying to make:

We are 5-2.  That has been the "calm down" cry from many who have said that this team is showing improvement enough to justify RR staying here.  But, as you point out:

We beat UConn - who wouldn't even win the MAC - may not even come in second.

We barely beat a crappy ND team - with its QB out for much of the game.  (Note that those who watched the game will recall that when Crist was in, ND was moving the ball and scoring well).

We barely beat a 1-AA team.  Think about this for a second.

BG - exception, agree, but they are also spectacularly bad.

Indiana - OSU destroyed them.  We beat them by a single score - one the last drive of the game.  Even our offensive production (42) against them is only a few points above their average.

Now, when faced with real competition - MSU and Iowa - we not only lost, but we looked terrible doing so.  Turnovers, penalties, special teams disasters, no defense whatsoever, and a far less ninja potent offense.

One could look at these games and say that to date - after 3 years - RR has fielded a team that can only beat the bottom of the barrel, and which gets handled by comeptent competition.  And, before everyone goes ballistic, I am not saying that this is the case, but looking at our body of work so far this season, this would not be any less reasonable of a conclusion.

MSU and Iowa caused those turnovers. Unless of course you mean we hiked the ball and said, "here ya go, guys"! We didn't blow those games, we were beaten soundly. I can't live in this fantasy world that everyone else on here lives in anymore when we lose games. Give those other teams credit for what they did, not what we didn't do. With that said, Penn State is the measuring stick for the rest of the season.

It's the same reason I listen to talk radio. I don't know if I just love to torture myself or what. Some doozies from the past week:

  • Will the spread work in the B10
  • Former players met with Brandon to discuss firing RR
  • Brandon is waiting for the NCAA to come back so he has grounds to fire RR and save $$
  • How can RR be so bad when he's coaching Michigan and all its resources
  • Emilien and Turner would have found playing time on our defense, so why did RR chase them away
  • What is going to happen to our O-Line when the Carr recruits leave - insinuating that RR recruits tiny O-linemen

[Bashes head into desk repeatedly]

It's my own fault. I try not to listen, but they pull me back in.

I do listen to WTKA on my iPhone from North Carolina every morning. I love Sam and Ira.  Today for the first time I listened to "the Big Show" and their callers.  I turned it off.  I don't live in Michigan anymore, and I am just disgusted listening to these no-nothing vomits (callers primarily) who claim to be Michigan fans.  Win or lose and whatever the ultimate fate of our current coaching staff, these people are an embarrassment.  If Coach Rod does not last at Michigan, I will always support the Michigan team 100% - just like I am supporting them now.  However, I beleive in this program and the coach and will give it the opportunity it deserves.  I will stay, and I'll feel like a champion when our time comes.  And it will.

97.1, the majority of local sportswriters, dweebish weebles in my office, Anglique C's Thursday noon M football chat, and now Rivals. 3 more wins and they rabble somewhere else

I've literally had to delete the Ticket from my presets to stop the torture. The looks I've gotten from other drivers while screaming at the stupidity of Mike Valenti have been less than pretty. I've been a much happier person ever since.

This is exactly what this site has turned into. Everyone who has anything negative to say is wrong and an uninformed asshole. Well I've read all of the decimated defenses and try to read as much as I can but RR hasn't proven the doubters wrong at all. That is why the rest of this season is really important because it gives him a nice stage to prove all of the naysayers wrong.

This year, as far as most people outside this blog are concerned, is shaping up exactly like last year. Win all your non conference games and the opener against Indiana and start the losing. I am excited about what he can do but right now I am a skeptic. Everything looks the same from last year. I know we've shown tremendous amounts of progress with the offense but it hasn't equated to an increase in wins from where we were last year. If the team comes out and beats a bad Penn State team I will see this year as a marked improvement because all that really matters are the wins.

This thread scared the poop out of me.  Seriously... i was wondering "What happened now?!"  I thought maybe he fell or choked on a peanut at home.  Seriously, why am I so paranoid now?

So Eddie it will take a miracle if Michigan can beat...Illinois, Purdue....? How many concussions did you get in your playing day? What a total baseless statement. That's embarassing. His only hope is that it was scripted by someone else and he read it on the teleprompter.

Maybe he is still smarting from the asskick that the wolverines planted on That Ohio State University during his senior year. Eddie got all the hype and Biakabutuka got 313 yards!

apparently if you post something around here that alot of people don't like they will go back through all of your shit and neg all of it.  Whatever though, thats fine i just like reading the things that actual contributors like Brian and Tom have to say anyway. I didn't realize that we had some sort of high point censorship bureau around here that was in charge. I thought this was a blog for all things michigan and those who love it. Apparently some of you though take it way too seriously and just because you don't want something on the board you freak the hell out. I found an article about M football that i thought was interesting to read, so i put it on the board for the others that wanted to read it. If you don't want to read it then guess what DON'T! it's that easy, you can neg me all day for writing this if you want but i am tired of certain people around here acting like assholes because they can.

This was a misleading title. This thread has wasted probably 10 minutes of my life. There was nothing new in this post.

It was the same thing we have seen every day for 2 years.

You should have titled he thread

Useless repeat thread: Another useless jackhole thinks RR is on the hotseat.

This would have been an informative title and people would not have read it and needed to neg you for it.

Am I the only one who clicked on this thinking that Mike Martin must have knocked up Mary Sue Coleman's daughter or Denard just cut off his foot mowing Dave Brandon's lawn but was relieved to find out that it's just two people on the internet that want him fired?
