I mentioned this in the noon game thread, but I’ll say it again here.. RIP Ron I never saw him play live, but have seen countless videos. He was amazing!

Are there "countless" videos out there of Ron Johnson? If so, please share. Don't recall seeing more than a few spare seconds here and there.

I misspoke, I have watched his 347 yard game video countless times.

Which is, what, like a minute of coach's film highlights.
The point is Bo getting here the year after Johnson graduated, in combination with there being basically no film of Johnson playing, is why many Michigan fans basically forgot about one of the greatest players in program history. Even before he faded from public life because of his Alzheimer's diagnosis. It's terribly sad.

I had the honor of sitting at the same table with Ron, George Lilja, Desmond, Elvis and a couple of other players from Ohio back in 2001 when Lloyd spoke at an Ohio All Academic football banquet. He was so friendly and nice and we talked a lot (he was sitting next to me) about life, careers and family. If memory serves he was in the insurance business at that time.
RIP Ron. True Michigan man.

Ron, George Hoey, Warren Sipp, and someone else lived above us at 1001 Forest Avenue. Friendly, happy guys. Only game I ever missed was the Wisconsin game. Came home in a driving rain after writing a paper for Sidney Fine's class to watch the end. I am sad.

My first Michigan game at Michigan Stadium was 1967 vs Navy.
Ron Johnson had 270 yards on 26 carries! Michigan still lost to Navy 26 - 21.
RIP Ron

I was there too. Remember it well but not as well as his monster game in 1968 versus Wisconsin.

I was there for that one.

Never saw Ron Johnson in person and only a very few times on TV, but what an electrifying runner he was!
RIP to one of the greatest halfbacks to ever carry the ball for the Maize and Blue.

Rest in peace, Ron.
I was two but my dad and my uncle went to the game against Wisconsin where he set the rushing record.

First African-American captain for UM. God bless him. By all accounts a special human being.

Condolences to his family and friends. Fifty years ago, on November 16, 1968, Ron Johnson ran for 347 yards and five touchdowns in a 34-9 win over Wisconsin. LINK

Wow.
Also, did you notice the end zone paint jobs, with the south being Wisky red&white?
