RichRod Said It Well

During his time here, I remember a reporter asking RichRod when will Michigan beat OSU. His reply was spot-on: “Michigan will beat Ohio State when we have better players than them. Period.”

10 yrs later, still nowhere near. And if you think the chasm is wide this yr, wait until next when our OL is depleted.

It’s about the Jimmy’s and Joe’s - and we don’t have them. Recruiting misses and transfers have caught up to this squad. Ben Mason on the D-Line tells you all you need to know.

ah yes here we go. I wondered how long it would be before the everyone cheats but us train left the station. I'm so tired of this being thrown out year in year out. We lose and it's everyone has bag men. why was it we were a more relevant team when schools were damn near openly throwing money around but now we can't compete because of the money. news flash we aren't getting better players because of JH, NOT because of no money being thrown around. Wake up

I was thinking recently about how things would have gone in an alternate reality where Rodriguez made better decisions in his first year and M went 6-6 or 7-5. If he ran an offense better suited for the players he inherited and didn't hire Gerg. In that situation, I would say Rodriguez is still the head coach, has won a Big Ten championship or two, and probably made a playoff. Too bad he has such an awful start to his tenure, he sunk his chances before even really beginning.

Is that the Rich Rodriguez with a beard? The one who hadn't built his entire coaching career out of designing a particular offense, instead letting his personnel determine his base schemes? The brilliant handler of people who could always find a way to smooth over any personnel problems? The one coordinators couldn't wait to land a job with because they knew they'd be given enough scope to make full use of their own talents?

In that universe we wouldn't have needed him. Evil Lloyd Carr's reaction to Bo's death wouldn't have been "OK, I've had enough." He would have bombed the Halkans, and we'd be parachuting cash and locking down every five star from here to Key West. And Gus Johnson would be Feinbaum.
