How sad. He would have had Peters or McCaffery or another stud throwing him the ball for 3 or 4 years. Now, he will have a blind monkey with a chronic masturbation problem doing the throwing...

EDIT: My apologies. This was rude. To all the blind sticky-handed primates out there, you have my apologies...

They think they are all good now since they have a top 25 recruiting class for the first time ever.  Puffing their chests out, but in all reality they are just picking up our scraps of people we don't want or people who just don't pan out.

Well you have to give Ash credit for taking a dumpster fire program and not having any HC experience...being able to parlay that into a top 25 recruiting class speaks well for him. However it isn't a done deal he may slip as we get closer to NSD and if his team doesn't do well.

He's enjoying the back-up QB effect. He's the new guy, the unknown, the blank canvas to project all hopes and dreams onto. Once he gets his teeth kicked in this season, not sure whatever he's selling recruits is going to resonant all that well. I'm guessing the Michigans and Ohios and Penn States of the world are going to raid their commits pretty bad come February.

Its a quantity over quality ranking at this point. It won't remain a top 25 rank for long. Even still, a new coaching hire does wonders for a program's recruiting. Mark Stoops had a couple top 25 classes when he was hired at Kentucky a few years ago.

It gives the new coaches the ability to sell hope instead of results in the first few years of a program.

Just to add to this point...the average 247 score of their class is 84.47. Illinois' average score is 84.79, but they aren't in the Top 50 because they only have 11 guys.

Last year, Rutgers' current average would put them JUST above Louisville (who had the 38th ranked class, in large part due to quantity over quality).

I think people are too quick to judge Ash at Rutgers.  Yes, his class won't end top 25, but it's headed towards a top 40 finish which is 10+ spots better than any class in the last 4 years for them.  Yes, the Rutgers 247 writers are ridiculous.   And while Ash has no HC experience, he does have experience working under some very successful HCs.

And people may be ruffled by the fact that Ash is going after Michigan, but it's very similar to what Harbaugh did at Stanford setting his sights on USC.  If he wants to go after the top dog, he should be going for OSU but he came from there, and currently perception is that Michigan is an easier target.  It's a bold strategy and he may look foolish in a couple years when Rutgers is still 4-8, but I respect him for trying to make Rutgers not a doormat.

Was going for a dog at dinner.  Once the owner is full of everything he ate, he will then throw some of his leftovers on to the ground for the dog to eat.  Harbaugh has a full recruiting class, and now is leaving the other players that are still great in talent to Rutgers.

He may still be here but the snap chatting at parties at 3am while suspended did him in. That's my guess.

Sad as we were all thrilled when he committed.

Rutgers will give him a quality education in return for his services. Glad he found a good landing spot wish him well. Everyone needs a second chance now and then.

I'm normally all about letting kids go whereever they want, but I gotta be honest, I don't like this one. He'd be going to a team not only in the same conference, but the same division. They're on the schedule every year.

He's going to have knowledge of the scheme, personnel, and playbook that he's going to take with him that Rutgers can use immediately, even if he himself can't play for a year. And who knows what Ash is going to share with Meyer.

Yeah, I mean, blocking a transfer almost universally ends up looking bad for the coach. I mean, people went after Mr Nice Guy John Beilein of all people for doing it. That's a big part of why I always come down on the "let the kid go where he wants" side. I guess I'm saying in this case, I can see the other side of the argument. I'm guessing Harbaugh doesn't make too much of a stink about it and I'd be fine with that.

Yes, he signed his LOI and enrolled at Michigan, so he would have to sit out a year. What I'm not sure of, is whether there are any rules that prohibit him from transferring within the conference. Didn't Rudock have to get special permission from Iowa to come here?
