Recruiting at The Game

Submitted by Mercury Hayes on

This one goes out to the posters who asked why Michigan would invite recruits to a game in which they appeared to be outmatched. That's why.

Toe to toe with the No.3 team in the country despite a hobbling QB, and a struggling offense.

I bet the recruits enjoyed themselves despite the loss. They just witnessed Devin Gardner showing what it means to be a Michigan man, and coming one throw from being just about the biggest legend we've ever had in the game.

I can't wait to hear the feedback from the recruits that were at the game.  I'm assuming it was positive, but I'd like to hear what they have to say.

Clearly Michigan is not afraid to play Freshmen.

Personally been more proud of a group of young men in a loss to OSU. That was quite a show they put on. I think Hoke may have proven something to me. Tweak the staff and we are onto something.

All the alumni and season ticket holders that sold their tickets should be ashamed of themselves. Half the posters on here want students to get penalized for showing up late, how about we penalizing those that sell their tickets to the enemy

The kids played their hearts out.  They were great.  The fans represented well and the Red wasn't too bad on TV.  The staff had a strong gameplan and yes, Borges called a good game.  Not sure where that came from.

I sold my tickets to a UM Dr so I didn't help the RED cause, but I will be honest, I had very faith in this team going toe-to-toe with OSU and competing for 60 minutes.

I WAS WRONG.  I thought they had about a 10% chance.  I was impressed.  I still don't like Borges, but the game was entertaining as hell.

My buddy and I watched on my couch (he's an OSU fan and the one I was going to take to the game.  He thought OSU played terribly and I think Michigan played like we all thought they would have all season long.

Changes still need to be made, but the game was fun and I hope D. Hand was watching.

It's a weird feeling right now. I'm pissed they loss and I live in the heart of Ohio. That sucks. But I'm not upset ... I'm just ... Numb, maybe.

I think a lot of recruits are feeling pretty good after this though at least better than a week ago. Dashawn come on hone

I was a a person that said I was a little concerned with so many recruits coming to this game and thinking we may be blown out.  I was pleasantly surprised with our offensive performance.  But, it still bothers me that there were so many OSU fans there and OSU was on the sideline singing after the game.  A recruit considering both schools would still likely have a positive reaction to OSU after that.  I feel like our fans couldn't do that in Columbus.  I don't wanna be OSU fans, but in a way I would like their fans to be just as uncomfortable at our stadium as we are in theirs.

Not to be random, but are we recruiting anyone for punter and or kicker?

Hoke obviously doesn't think much of Wile... are we already in a good position with McGrath or Allen?

Game could have been much different had the kicking game been a weapon.

We fought our asses off and I am proud of every part of this team. We finally put together as complete a game as we were capable of doing against the no. 3 team in the country. If a couple bounces go our way, we win, but it almost felt like a win to me. Go Blue.

How could the visitors not love this?  We were constantly labeled underdogs by the media leading up to the game.  The team came out and showed it can play with ohio, we proved that they can be beat and that the #3 ranking doesn't mean much to anyone but the suits.

The crowd was absolutely silent for every moment of the third quarter. Its like they were all expecting Ohio to roll us. Every time we gave up the lead, you could feel the crowd give up. Sad. But, it was rowdy as hell when we did good things. The guy behind me was just wailing on my shoulders every time I'd cheer. Kind of cool.

That was a fun game to attend. That's why I love sports. Got the early lead, got down and thought it was over, we tied it up, gave up the lead then scored with the chance to win. That was one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride. I have to say it again, that's why I love football!

You have to remember that this is Thanksgiving weekend and most students were not on campus. Despite this, the studentbsection was full and despite the fact that the stadium was 25% red! the play on the field kept the away team quiet. We owned this stadium and were it not for a poor decision on the conversion, we would have dropped the number 1 or 2 team in the nation (post Bama loss). We were 17 point underdogs and we had every opportunity to win this game. Aside from several series in the third, we were playing to win instead of playing not to lose. I am proud of the effort in this game end I support the 2 point try. I would have done the same thing. Fuck the armchair QB's like Holtz who say we should have gone for the tie.i totally support this team.
