Quick hypothetical for the bored

Submitted by ijohnb on

Many on this board detest speculation, so for those, I am not trying to gaze into a crystal ball and make some kind of prediction, just bored, tired of trying to find ways to turn our freshman receivers into a defensive secondary, and want to throw out a remote possibility for discussion.  Just as everything with RR has been somewhat of a headf#%k so far, I assume that the possibilty of having to fire him would not end up cut and dry either.  What if......

Michigan is rough, last year all over again, a couple of nice moments, a win over MSU or Notre Dame, but sitting at 4 or 5 wins before the OSU game.  Fire RR, correct, no brainer.  Michigan then shocks number 1, 2,3 etc. Ohio State in a shocker of epic proportions, eliminating them from NC contention and a shot at the BCS title game.  Secondary comes of age, the offense clicks like we knew it could, silence from 100,000 at the Shoe, chaos on the mean streets of Ann Arbor.

Fire him?  There is one to think about.

for the third straight year, I don't know, I think he could still get the axe.  At that point, the decision would likely already be made, negotiations in progress, that would be a touch call.

...some strange sights to see on Michigan's sideline at the Horseshoe during the game.  In the stands and on the surrounding streets?  I can imagine those things happening.  Also cooler pooping.  On the sideline? That would be odd.

I don't wan to bite too much at this, so all I'm gonna say is this: I truly believe there is no way we will have less than 6 wins going into the OSU game, probably will have at least 7.

... 4 wins before OSU?   Have you even looked at the schedule?

Six wins, with a win over tOSU, RichRod is back.  Seven wins without, he's back.

See the other post regarding the 2011 roster.  Absent some totally off-the-wall stuff emanating from the NCAA, I think we are all in with RichRod, and AD Brandon knows who can best coach the team that is being built.  Don't even start with Les Miles (won with Saban's boys) or Jim Harbaugh (riding a hot QB, lost his stud FB).  Who would we want? Brady Fickin' Hoke?

It's Revenge Tour time, people.  I see 9 wins, so all the OP's cogitations are so much drivel.

RichRod agrees...

No one has mentioned this point yet that I've heard so I'll also bite.

To me, if we're in a grey area like you've described, the most important factor will be which coaches are available. Obviously we'll contact Jim Harbaugh and assess Les Miles and some others but if they aren't interested or there aren't any exciting replacement possibilities Rich keeps his job, even if we're sitting at 6-6. Which isn't a bad thing, a little stability might go a long way for next year.

we'll have 6 after October 9.  But I'll definitely play along here.

He needs 7 total including the bowl.  The Ohio state scenerio gives me tired head. Great friggin Hypo.
