Profile on Drexel's coach- part of the Beilein tree
In-depth profile of Zach Spiker, who brought Illinois' opponent to the tourney for the first time in 25 years. I didn't know this but he was part of Beilein's WVU staff back in the day.

Dear John Beilein: you have accomplished everything you ever could accomplish in the Big Ten. The Pac 12 needs a good coach!

I'm betting Coach B is pretty happy NOT having to fight the cheaters in recruiting... and keep the hectic pace and schedule of a D1 coach.
If he does come back to coach, he may opt for an ivy league program, one of the academies, somewhere that doesn't require fighting KY, Duke, Kansas, etc for recruits.. He probably has enough coin to live a pretty comfortable retirement, not wanting for much.
How much are you betting? I'll give you good odds that if he does come back, he is at a power conference, NOT at an Ivy or one of the academies, as you seem to think he will.
He's coached in the Big East at its height, then the Big Ten while it was the best conference. Then he decided to jump to the NBA. I don't see Beilein all of a sudden deciding that was all too much and want to slink off to some perceived low pressure job. If he comes back, I think the evidence suggests he'll jump back in to a high level job, continue his career progression, and be good at it.
IF he comes back it may be at a power conf.
What i said was I'm betting he's enjoying NOT having to fight the cheaters in recruiting and keeping the hectic pace of a D1 Coach.
Coach B is 68 years old now, and his last coaching gig was very likely one of the worst of his career, despite being tempted to give coaching in the NBA a shot..
Beilein has dealt with the cheaters for a long time. He seems at peace with them. He does his own thing--which won't change. He'll find under-recruited players who fit his system. And then he'll coach them up. Frankly, that describes most of the better players in Indiana. [though IU will try to get a younger big name coach]
Under the Beilein tree,
You and me and a basketball make three...
Side note: I have Drexel winning it all...
I did a mascot bracket with my middle school students and our final four was
UCSB Gauchos vs FSU Seminoles
Texas Tech Red Raiders vs Drexel Dragons
They had the Dragons fireballing the Argentinian cowboy in the Final
