Pride comes before the fall
They laughed at us when we suggested that Harbaugh could come back to Michigan. They said that Harbaugh couldn't recruit last year when MSU was outrecruiting us during the summer. They said that Harbaugh wouldn't win more than 6 games in his first season. They acted as if their win last year in AA was indicative of their skill level instead of being incredibly lucky. They said that Michigan was overrated preseason at 7 and would not beat their Spartans in East Lansing. Now they clutch to the moral victory of holding us to a nine point win like all Spartans fans did from 1969-2007. They became too prideful and are now experiencing the fall.

MSU actually starts six seniors on each side of the ball, plus McDowell who is expected to go pro.

That might be a little opimistic. We haven't beaten them more than 6* times in a row since they joined the Big 10 53 years ago. I expect we'll take over control of the series given the current program trajectories but it's probably going to be more like 7 out of the next 10.
*=Should be 8 from 2000-07 but for Sparty Bob's theft in 2001.

I disagree on the competence point. Talent, culture and consistency are what take more time to establish.
I think you can question a coaching decision here or there (the Shane Morris snaps on third baffle me, given how well Speight was playing), but I don't think you can question the overall competence of Harbaugh, his staff, and their players.
Consistent, top-line talent that has benefitted from that coaching, a culture of respectful hatred mixed with an expectation to win will take time to establish and put in the record books.
Maybe we're saying the same thing, and your point is that Harbaugh and Co need time to root out all the bad habits and re-define Michigan in the eyes of our opponents (particularly State and OSU).
Today, frustrations aside, was a good step in that direction.

Really?
After all the shit talking those people have done?
They deserve a double bird.
Not all sparty fans are bad. My best friend happens to be one, ironically. But he doesn't talk.
Don't say anything and not expect it to come back around when the time comes. OP's post is a response to all of those who provoked it.

I've never understood the rationale that Hart's comments somehow caused us to struggle against MSU under RR/Hoke - like we wouldn't have otherwise? It's not like we were John Cooper's OSU, beating everyone else and then losing in the rivalry. We performed against Sparty as you would expect a bad team to perform against a good team.

I call foul on this.
1. When... in the entire history of college football... has a coach been that butthurt over a comment from one of the opposing players?
Fuck Dantonio for getting upset over what a 20 year old said.
2. If the fanbase doesn't like "little brother", they have to realize their behavior perpetuates it.
We lost those games because we sucked -- not because of a "little brother" comment.

The self-righteous shall call for a 2-point conversion and then give up 2 points the other way.

"for all who draw the sword will die by the sword." Okay, not exactly applicable, but still.

Peppers sucks? The way he looked today, I honestly cant recall a player that looks that fast and strong in my life in the college game. Someone please enlighten me because he might be one of the best athletes ever to play the game. Can he do things like Barry Sanders? No, but he can do so much more than Barry ever could've dreamt. Have you ever witnessed a bigger implact player on the defensive side of the ball at so many positions? The guy could be an elite corner in the NFL when he was allowed to perfect the craft. I just hope he get's touches on the next level to show his talent.

My favorite comment on there was about how Jabrill isn't fast enough to play safety. Really? Not fast enough? That's the criticism you're going with?

Sure they'll always play us tough but the days of beating up on RR and Hoke are gone. Harbaugh should have been 2-0 against them and now they have to go back to our place coming off of a bowless season.

We have some question marks next year but Harbaugh's recruiting qualms my concerns to an extent. State loses Mcdowell, a number of OL, and has to figure out QB off of a team that should finish 4-8 or 5-7
