Pickin' & Grinnin' - NFL Wildcard Games (+Friday Night Adult Beverage Thread)

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

While sadly we won't be playing this coming week, there are still NFL playoff games to watch.  I have listed them below, and the home team is the second team in each match up, and each of them are favored.  For whatever reason the NFC match-ups look more interesting to me.  Curious if the Falcons can get back to the super bowl, and if the Saints and Drew Brees will make another run at it.

Remember the challenge is to pick with the points.  For instance, if you like the Chiefs to beat Tennessee, the question is do you think they'll win by more than 8 points.   Anyway, here are the games and spreads:

Tennessee
     - 8.5
Kansas City
4:20 PM ESPN
ABC
WatchESPN

AFC WILD CARD PLAYOFF
Atlanta
         -6
Los Angeles
8:15 PM\ NBC
NFC WILD CARD PLAYOFF

Sunday, January 7

matchup   time  (ET) nat tv   location
Buffalo
            - 8.5
Jacksonville
1:05 PM CBS
AFC WILD CARD PLAYOFF
Carolina
               -7
New Orleans
4:40 PM FOX
NFC WILD CARD PLAYOFF

As for adult beverages, I've got some no-name red pop going.  Wood stove is lit with most of the kids laying around it and reading.  Will barbeque some salmon.  What about you all?

Have a great weekend, warming weather on the way.  Supposed to sky rocket into the 20's by Sunday,

you are to influence all the recruits, or at least the ones that we want, to stay away from socal and those nasty schools.  please revise your post to include some form of natural disaster or riot, or something bad.  like sharks.

Traffic was not too bad over the Holidays. I am already dreading my drive in to work Monday morning. To make matters worse, the 405-105 interchange is closing for 4 months for construction. That is going to make Carmageddon look like a walk in the park. (Was that good enough?)

It's Dark Horse Cabernet and trying to stay warm over here.

Actually, out of boredom, I turned on the Skeleton finals on the Olympic Channel. All I can say is that I would be terrified the entire way down. That being said, Altenberg is a very picturesque place indeed.

Going forward, I see the saints as possibly making some noise in the NFC I predict saints-vikings in the NFC championship game and the winner will go on to take down the Patriots in the super bowl.

but clear as a bell and no wind.  near full moon too.  gorgeous.

yak, sorry about the pipe burst.  that $35K quote is an 'insurance quote', meaning your contractor is trying to overprice and get paid lots by your carrier.  get a couple of other quotes.  if you are in northern michigan let me know as i can refer you to reputable contractors.

Just two days before Christmas Eve. It totally sucked. Final bill was $55K - and you’re right: the deductible makes a huge difference. I paid about $850 when it was all said and done; $350 for the plumber (insurance won’t cover the cost of replacing the broken pipe, which is weird, just the cost of all the damage it caused) and $500 for the deductible. Good luck, and make sure to work closely with your adjuster. That will make all the difference to the outcome.

Give me jags, panthers (best game), chiefs (only because Andy is a late round choker), and falcons experience and improving over last half of season. Jack Daniels is as premium as the non scotch whiskey gets here....anybody know a good place to watch the games? (I kid, I kid...) As a Broncos fan, toasting the Gruden hire.....saddled with that Carr contract, not enough spiders in the banana.

will need an ice pick to stay hydrated today.  sun will come up in 45 minutes.  cloudless.  will go for a run with some of the kids and get back to work.  love northern michigan.

i also think the favorites will cover.  i think atlanta is going to fall on their face.  i am very curious how that carolina/NO game will go.  guess i'm a drew brees fan so i'll pull for the saints.

Breakfast drink of champions has always been coffee.

If you are on the tomato juice or anything else, you lost last night, or rather early this morning.
