Photos Inside the Bubble: More Evidence of OSU Emphasis

Jay Feely spoke to the team last night and posted a couple photos on Facebook. That tagline at the bottom of his slideshow is interesting. Also good to see a Lloyd sighting.

(For bonus points, you can scour the slide for typos, too.)

Until a lot of people are able to separate academics and football the hate for Ohio State won’t come back to here it use to be. People outside looking in don’t give 2 shits about the academics they look on the rivalry and wonder why Michigan fans keep talking academics, then just go join the Ivy League.

I still don't believe for a second that anyone on the team takes OSU lightly or doesn't want to beat them just as bad as they want to beat us. I def don't believe that Jim Harbaugh doesn't hate OSU more than anyone on this board. I do find it hilarious that people complain all the time about the team not emphasizing or "focusing more" on the OSU game, (because if they wish real hard it will happen), that when they do something like this, they just get shit on and it still isn't enough.

I hear your point but under Harbaugh we’ve NEVER come into a game looking prepared or with any kind of energy offensively, OSU on the other hand looks just the opposite. I’ve seen games from Iowa, Purdue, and Maryland come in offensively prepared and motivated against OSU so the argument about well they have more talent doesn’t fly. Preparation and energy comes from wanting it.

Emphasis is nice, but the question should be asked of the administration and athletic department, not overmatched players.

Are you willing to do what is necessary to beat OSU today?

Motivational speeches won't drop our CB 40 times to 4.3, won't build 330 pound space eating DTs, and won't fill up our recruiting classes with 80% top 100 players.

The talent gap has gotten too large as of today for much of this to matter.

We will need a near perfect game, luck, and exceptional QB play to beat them - as well as them playing well below their best.  A combination of events that just doesn't seem to happen for us during The Game, and a most of which is out of the players' control.

Build a better program Athletic Dept, not motivational slide shows.

The question also needs to be asked of every coach, from Harbaugh on down.

Yep, the talent gap is significant. The player development gap is also significant. The gap in scheme (and scheme flexibility based on opponent) is significant. The gap in motivating players and keeping them mentally sharp is significant. The gap in play calling and in-game coaching is significant.

We are currently behind OSU in every facet of football execution.

The overmatched players argument is also weak. Harbaugh is 0-5 against OSU and thanks to covid he delayed his 0-6 until 2021.

I guess ISU wasn’t overmatched the times they’ve beat Oklahoma and Texas. Even if we’re overmatched against osu are we overmatched against osu, wisconsin, psu, msu? Should have won another game against osu by now.

Big Ten Network was showing the 1991 Michigan-Ohio State game today and I shit you not the first play I saw was Desmond's punt return and Heisman pose. Got me fired up. I miss that feeling. A lot.

I don’t care if people here think it’s tacky or cliche. If this is what works for this team, then that’s all that matters.

Winning is the great equalizer. It makes everyone shut up and fall in line. I don’t care if beating OSU means the entire team spends the last hour of practice dancing in unison around a pole in tutus and leotards throwing daisy petals all over each other. If that’s what it takes to win the last game of the season, then fucking do it.
