I'm not really expecting Michigan to get in but if they do there is a legitimate argument to be made for including them.

Anything less then Alabama, Ohio State, CLemson and Washington (or Michigan) is a total sham. Penn State has no business getting in.

the Undertaker should get in over Triple H....but Delaney will screw him with a slow count in his match against The Rock.  Unfortunately Paul Bearer or Mr. Fuji could have played a role here, but with both dead, I just don't see Michigan getting in without Vince McMahon pushing for it.  Final rankings...

1) Bama

2) The Rock

3) Undertaker

4) Clemson

Triple H, Michigan, PSU

in the AP poll and the 'coaches' in the coaches poll place a lot more importance on winning the conference than does the committee.

IOW, the 'deserves it' and also recency bias forms of idiocy are rampant in the AP and coahces polls.

Committee cares more about overall resume and head to head.

Also, the margins of PSU over Michigan in the just released AP and coaches polls are razor thin.

Therefore, we now know that the committee will rank Michigan 5 and PSU below Michigan.

Book it.

It all caved in for us when we went into a shell in the 2nd half against Iowa, couldn't convert a 3rd down to save our life; and then when our defense let them drive the last forty yards at the end for a chip shot field goal...  None of this PSU scenario would have happened, regardless of losing to OSU, if only FRIKKIN IOWA.

Are these rankings supposed to be about who thinks who is a better team or who thinks who's record was better based on a bunch of arbitrary things such as the transitive property?

There is a lot of team x beat Y early but lost to z late and blah blah blah....

Does anyone of these people actually think that if you put Penn State and Michigan on a neutral field with neutral refs that Penn State would win? Like, Seriously? Because I thought that was the point of these rankings.

being unpopular........Michigan has lost 2 of their last 3 games while Ped state has won 9 in a row.  You gotta win in November.  Do I think Michigan is better than PSU - yes but they faltered.

If anyone thinks Penn State would have still been ahead of us if Washington or Clemson had lost, I strongly disagree. The rankings past 4 don't matter and this was an easy way for the committee to help the Big Ten save face.

If the CFPcommittee had a chance to put in Michigan, they would have.  Since they didn't, they put PSU ahead so they can't be accused of ignoring the B10 champs.

And if PSU is bothered about not getting into the playoff, they can blame themselves and MSU.  PSU lost to Pitt, not a bad loss but still a loss.  And no one wants to see an unqualified team bumble around in the semifinals again like MSU last year.

At the end of the day, Michigan screwed up.  Everyone knows Michigan is one of the 4 best teams in America.  But the loss to Iowa was inexcusable.  Iowa is a decent team, but Michigan is much better this year.  Should have never lost.  The officiating at OSU was horrible, and everyone knows that.  It tipped the game to OSU.  But 3 turnovers was the majority of the reason Michigan lost.

I'd like to believe this, but I just can't.  I don't think they spent that much time worrying about optics; I think they honestly believe that PSU has accomplished more than Michigan, thanks to winning the Big Ten championship game.

I totally get why we're not in the CFP.  But I cannot wrap my head around PSU being ranked higher than Michigan.  Head to head 39 point win, and the progression of the game indicated complete dominance.  Then PSU falls behind by 21 to Wisconsin and somehow comes back to win by the skin of their teeth.  I felt like throwing my TV out the window while the ESPN panel gushed all over PSU today.

I think PSU is going to get pwned by USC in the Rose Bowl.  This game could easily be a 20 to 30 point USC victory.  It sucks that they will be representing the B1G as the so-called champion and then have their shit handed to them on a platter.  SMH.

The drubbing was Sept 24. Since then, they're undefeated and we lost twice. They beat OSU and pounded Iowa, both of whom beat us. They beat Wisconsin by finishing strong, which is what good teams do. They're program history presents one of the worst stories in all of collegiate sports, and I would have loved to see it disbanded for the sake of humankind, but it wasn't. So here we are.

We have the same record.  Head to head is the one metric that matters the most.  And it wasn't close.  PSU's D gave up 31 points to Wisconsin starting their backup QB.  We allowed 7 points.  We never trailed Wisconsin.  Michigan was a much better football team on Sept. 24 and is still a much better football team today.

PSU will get their asses handed to them by USC in the Rose Bowl.

This absolutely is justified.  Penn State won it's last 9 games it played.  Michigan lost 2 of it's last 3.  Michigan was under .500 outside of the state of Michigan and when comparing losses, Penn State's two losses were better than Michigan's two losses.  Not to mention they had the better win between both programs in beating Ohio State.

The committee has shown that head to head means very little to them and that won't change.  Team A beats Team B, Team B beats Team C, and Team C beats Team A, nullifies any justification of Michigan's head to head win at home against Penn State who looks like a completely different team today.

I personally would pick Penn State to beat Michigan on neuteral field today.  I trust Trace McSorley way more than I trust Wilston Speight.
