OT: Wednesday Night No Sports Open Thread: How You Doin?
Hello friends,
I'm bored on a Wednesday night, so whats up?
I'm curious how much weed those who partake smoke on a weekly basis? I probably smoke too much...
Also curious as to what the board is listening to these days. I've been on a The Taxpayers binge for a couple of months. For those that aren't familiar they are an indie punk band from Portland Oregon and the lead singer was a preschool teacher i believe. Anyways I'm in love with their stuff right now. Highly recommend listening to both "to risk so much for one same meal" and "God Forgive these bastards" which is about a fictional baseball player and his fall from grace. Good stuff.

I stumbled upon Peaky Blinders a couple years ago without knowing anything about it. I was instantly hooked. I binged the hell out of that series. They sip whiskey like water. It's the Birmingham way.

Arcoiris, which means rainbow in Portuguese, they're a Brazilian band, made one album but it was also great.

Just caught and released a field mouse that found its way into my homes ductwork, I feel accomplished at the moment. The little one was happy I released it rather than the alternative. The pup was not.

On my to-do list for when I age out of drug testing or drug testing becomes irrelevant (whichever comes first): THC edibles. (EDIT: I just saw the post of taistreetsmyhero and am feeling bad about my casual edibles comment.)
My experience with THC is ancient and I'd probably be overwhelmed by the strength of some of today's offerings.
Go-to music for me is post-bop jazz (mid-'60s).

Ha - no worries. My wife and I used it together, we had great times together. She has no issues with it. I just happen to have a predisposition to get a little manic when high. Bad luck genes I guess.

2019, I was taking edibles regularly living in SoCal. Binge in April combined with low dose SSRI and work stress sent to the hospital for mania. It’s been a tough pill for me to swallow that I can’t use anymore. Was sober for 6 months, then used again and wound up in hospital on Christmas. Been sober ever since. Woof.
This last week has been brutal. Had to pause my psychiatric partial hospitalization to come to Detroit. My father in law is in the hospital...family just got hit with the sledge hammer that he’s got lung cancer and it’s spread to his brain. It’s been a heavy dose of exposure therapy taking him to Henry Ford, where I did my med school rotations and saw shit that still haunts me and fucks with my head to this day.
Bittersweet in that I’m finally feeling much better after over a year, but gutted for my wife and her family.

I lost the dry Jan battle today. Moved on from a red wine to some Widow Jane. Definitely softening the edges of the day. Don't smoke but I work with a guy who probably has enough THC for all of us. He invests in those stocks too (do your own diligence, invest - don't gamble; my unprofessional suggestion).
Waiting on baby girl to hear word from school #4 (which is choice #1). Waiting is tough when you just want to see your kids happy. Been listening to lots of jazz (random channels on one the services) and binging Brooklyn 99, New Girl and Saul. Damn, do I need some M hoops.

I don't smoke marijuana. Don't drink much besides coffee, rainwater and grain alchohol.
My music has been the same for decades. Queen, Stones, Beatles, The Who, Tom Petty, The Traveling Wilburys, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, The Zombies, The Animals, some Motown, some disco and some classical.

Just turned in my reviews today. While it is much more pleasant writing good reviews, it is also much harder to come up with examples. Bad reviews write themselves. All good ones this year.

I can't consume/smoke weed, since I'm a fed and could get fired if we have a random test. Cut down on the drinking since BP was on the high side during the last physical exam. I'm just drinking water for a while. I also like the old rock, the rock was good up until 2010 but too many screamers in the last decade. 70s pop is kind of fun to listen to since I have not heard some of those old songs since being in the 7 to 17 years old time frame.

Slow week at work. Just got absorbed into another company and have no idea of new job responsiblities.

Finished hanging a closet door tonight in my newly renovated bathroom that is taking me way too long to finish.
Watching Breaking Bad for about the 8th time since this pandemic started last March. I guess I find comfort with the familiar. Been listening to a lot of Heart and Queen lately. Cheers all and enjoy.
