OT: USC's Class Continuing to Implode

Submitted by SMJenkins3 on

A little off topic, but since we all love rejoicing in USC's troubles, it looks like their recruiting class is continuing to implode as signing day approaches.

It sounds like Jalen Ramsey has decommitted from USC, and will sign with FSU.  It also sounds like Jason Hatcher has decommitted and will sign with Kentucky. There are also rumors that Torrodney Prevot may decommit as well.

That would be three players lost today (bringing their total number of commits down to just 11). I know they have been holding out hope for Vanderdoes, but that's not happening.

The info is available in various places including here: http://usc.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1468661 and here http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/usc/forums/_/trojan-family ($)

Couldn't happen to a nicer coach.

Edit: There are now some twitter rumors that Nico Falah might also decommit.  The hits just keep on coming.

One of the remarkable things about the last ten years of the Al Davis regime is that, for how crazy everyone believed Davis to be, and how unfair he seemed to be to his coaches, it turned out that the coaches he had trouble with were in fact totally insane. Davis can be held responsible for hiring them, but he turns out to look like the man in the right in his issues with guys like Kiffin.

If Kiffin keeps this up he's going to have to play people on both sides of the ball. Kiffin will screw USC into the ground then get fired and go ruin another program

Has this ever happened to another school--losing so many prized recruits in the days before NSD?  Is there something that happened that I missed?  I get that Kiffin is a jerk etc., but why are so many of these guys just figuring that out, even while other guys (McQuay) are signing up?  It is all really odd.

It is especially weird that so many are leaving now, one day before NSD. I doubt they did this but if they did conspire to decommit like this, then that is one impressive F*** You to Lane Kiffin. They have no time to poach UCLA or anyone else in the Pac 12 so they will either be filling out the class with Utah's walkons or, if they can, banking the scholarships and having a relatively high number next year.

Awhile ago, Ramsey chose FSU today and tonight FITTS will decide here on the West Coast if he plans on staying w SC or going to UCLA, Wash, Oregon, ND, Utah

In case you don't remember SC pulled his EE Scholarship in favor of McQuay, I hope he picks UCLA

Lane Kiffin will get fired then get a job running the NCAA. "Oh, you don't know what you are doing ever? I think that is all we need to hear...YOU ARE HIRED!"

What if all this guys talked to each other and they agreed to screw Kiffin, like he has screwed so many recruits before? I don't think thats a far fetched idea. What do you guys think?

I think it's a far-fetched idea.

For some reason the concept that random teenagers would somehow band together in show of solidarity to stick it a guy who has done nothing but kiss THEIR respective ass for the past year or so seems unlikely.  Especially when it might mean screwing themselves over if they dont have a "plan B" school as good as USC.

Nice try Shaggy.

Wow, Hatcher JUST recommitted to them too.  For the record, despite Reuben Foster sommitting just yesterday, he still may sign with someone else tomorrow.  From committing so early, to his familymoving to Auburn and getting the tattoo... to the visit to SDSU, and now this news???  I thought that Jordan Payton was bad last year....

...USC's recruiting class is loaded at the top with elite talent and Kiffin is a douche...it is not really that surprising that there have been so many decommits in this class. However, since SC already has four 5 star recruits and three 4 star recruits including (LM3) enrolled early at SC AND Haden (for some unbeknownst reason) is committed to keeping Kiffin for at least another season...USC's class will be the envy of almost every college program out there (Michigan excluded!). I can also say as someone whose family has 8 season tickets for SC football...I have not met a single SC alum that supports Kiffin and would like nothing more than to see him fired.

I don't think any of the top programs in the country will envy their class. Anyone knows you can't build any kind of long term success with a class of 11 kids, regardless of star power. I take a solid class of twelve four stars and twelve three stars over this USC class any day. For a team that already had major depth issues this season, this class is turning out to be disastrous for the Trojans.

Granted, it's a small sample size, but the average  Rivals star ratings of the USC decommits is now higher than the still committed class of twelve athletes (4.33 to 4.00). That's a rather interesting achievement for the Kiffin era at USC.
