OT: USC's Class Continuing to Implode
A little off topic, but since we all love rejoicing in USC's troubles, it looks like their recruiting class is continuing to implode as signing day approaches.
It sounds like Jalen Ramsey has decommitted from USC, and will sign with FSU. It also sounds like Jason Hatcher has decommitted and will sign with Kentucky. There are also rumors that Torrodney Prevot may decommit as well.
That would be three players lost today (bringing their total number of commits down to just 11). I know they have been holding out hope for Vanderdoes, but that's not happening.
The info is available in various places including here: http://usc.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1468661 and here http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/usc/forums/_/trojan-family ($)
Couldn't happen to a nicer coach.
Edit: There are now some twitter rumors that Nico Falah might also decommit. The hits just keep on coming.

One of the remarkable things about the last ten years of the Al Davis regime is that, for how crazy everyone believed Davis to be, and how unfair he seemed to be to his coaches, it turned out that the coaches he had trouble with were in fact totally insane. Davis can be held responsible for hiring them, but he turns out to look like the man in the right in his issues with guys like Kiffin.

Come on McQuay, come on!!!

He already enrolled.

Reverse Justin Fargas, plz?

Yeah, but it involves bending your legs in strange, painful ways. Not recommended.

I posted that link above, some relevant bits of info:
- Henry Poggi will sign with Michigan
- They are split 4 to 4 on where Von Bell goes (OSU or Tenn)
- Ezekiel Elliot will sign with OSU
- One guy thinks Cameron Hunt will sign with Michigan
February 5th, 2013 at 3:59 PM ^
the notion that OSU should be allowed to have room left to sign bell or eze is absurd.
February 5th, 2013 at 4:04 PM ^
To be fail Ezekiel Elliot has been committed to them since April of last year.
He just took a trip to Missouri last week so that is why the analysts weighed in on where he is going to sign.

I'm gonna enjoy OSU's inflated expectations, followed by the same train wreck that followed Meyer at Florida. Coming off of 12-0 and two great recruiting classes, the fall is gonna be even bigger.

That has to be old info, Hunt just declared for Oregon.
February 5th, 2013 at 4:31 PM ^
Hunt hasn't declared for anyone just yet. It's just widely assumed that he'll sign with Oregon now that he de-committed from Cal.
February 5th, 2013 at 3:38 PM ^
Technically, the class is EXploding, no?

I still dont get how Ohio St was punished?? Man, I hate that fucking school

the new coach after Lane's firing will have lots of roster flexibility in 2014.
Must be Lane's swan song if he lands only 10 or so in this class.
February 5th, 2013 at 3:43 PM ^
Has this ever happened to another school--losing so many prized recruits in the days before NSD? Is there something that happened that I missed? I get that Kiffin is a jerk etc., but why are so many of these guys just figuring that out, even while other guys (McQuay) are signing up? It is all really odd.
February 5th, 2013 at 5:14 PM ^
It is especially weird that so many are leaving now, one day before NSD. I doubt they did this but if they did conspire to decommit like this, then that is one impressive F*** You to Lane Kiffin. They have no time to poach UCLA or anyone else in the Pac 12 so they will either be filling out the class with Utah's walkons or, if they can, banking the scholarships and having a relatively high number next year.
February 5th, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
In case you don't remember SC pulled his EE Scholarship in favor of McQuay, I hope he picks UCLA
February 5th, 2013 at 3:47 PM ^
Lane Kiffin will get fired then get a job running the NCAA. "Oh, you don't know what you are doing ever? I think that is all we need to hear...YOU ARE HIRED!"

you compromise integrity over star status. I doubt the USC implosion happens if Mcquay doesn't commit to USC.
February 5th, 2013 at 4:01 PM ^
What if all this guys talked to each other and they agreed to screw Kiffin, like he has screwed so many recruits before? I don't think thats a far fetched idea. What do you guys think?
February 5th, 2013 at 4:06 PM ^
I think it's a far-fetched idea.
For some reason the concept that random teenagers would somehow band together in show of solidarity to stick it a guy who has done nothing but kiss THEIR respective ass for the past year or so seems unlikely. Especially when it might mean screwing themselves over if they dont have a "plan B" school as good as USC.
Nice try Shaggy.

isn't even a class anymore, it should just be called USC's 2013 small group of football peers.
February 5th, 2013 at 5:21 PM ^
Pretty soon Octomom will have had more kids than this USC class.
February 5th, 2013 at 4:17 PM ^
Wow, Hatcher JUST recommitted to them too. For the record, despite Reuben Foster sommitting just yesterday, he still may sign with someone else tomorrow. From committing so early, to his familymoving to Auburn and getting the tattoo... to the visit to SDSU, and now this news??? I thought that Jordan Payton was bad last year....

symbolized the USC grad perfectly - all style, no substance.

Alternatively USC can let the sanctions run out and then hire someone new.

Hate on USC football all you want, but it's a very good school, and their graduates are very successful because of it. I get ripping on OSU or MSU for academics, but USC?

February 5th, 2013 at 4:46 PM ^
Granted, it's a small sample size, but the average Rivals star ratings of the USC decommits is now higher than the still committed class of twelve athletes (4.33 to 4.00). That's a rather interesting achievement for the Kiffin era at USC.
February 5th, 2013 at 5:17 PM ^
If this USC class has the same rate of attrition as Kiffin's Tennessee recruiting class, their 2015 team will be composed of one extremely talented guy taking the snap and looking confused as 11 defenders pile onto him.
February 5th, 2013 at 7:00 PM ^
Um, the still committed class has 5-5stars and 7-4stars. How do you come up with 4.00 as the star average? I get 4.42.
February 5th, 2013 at 7:25 PM ^
You're right indeed. I flubbed on the calculation. My fail. Still, it will be interesting to see what this class looks like tomorrow when basically comparable talent to those staying has in fact decommitted. Apologies to the board.
