If things keep going swimmingly this season (here's to hoping that they don't), OSU better get ready to fire the money cannon at Ryan Day.  Not even in the top 5 of the B1G.

I really don't give a rip what Harbaugh makes.  Just do us all proud.  And if we win out this season he should get a raise.  Double the raise if we smoke OSU by 20 or more points.

Ryan Day ($4.5 million; 7th B1G; 22nd nationally) and Paul Chryst ($4.15 millon; 9th B1G; 25th nationally) are both pretty great deals for their respective programs.

OSU took a risk on Ryan Day, and paid him accordingly, while Wisconsin's AD are known to be penny-pinchers and a big reason why Bret Bielema left for the Arkansas. Paul Chryst probably accepts the relatively low compensation for being in the perfect situation for himself personally.

I'm sure this thread won't have anyone talking about how our coach is overpaid at all...

Wait...JEFF BROHM MAKES $6.6 M AT PURDUE???

And y'all think *Jim* is the one who is overpaid AHAHAHAHAHHA

Well deserved coach Harbaugh! This is in addition to his other compensation of contributions to his life insurance policy that bring his total compensation to approximately $9 million per year.

UM doesn't need to tie compensation to performance- we could double Harbaugh's salary and it would be meaningless for our athletics department. We compensate Michigan men to run a clean program, with winning a distant second priority. Wayyyyy too much focus on the fact that he is compensated at national championship levels - who cares?

We are willing to pay $9m per year for his character.  If we also wanted to win, I'd think we'd be willing to pay $15-20 million.  Compensation is meaningless when you are as rich as us.

Sure Jim was not brought in to make it to the CFP. He is paid all that third highest money in the NCAA for his integrity. Clean programs and a head coach's character are important. Keeps you bowl eligible for the holiday games in December and sometimes even on January 1st. Also helps and improves the ability to recruit 5 star athletes. This also helps perpetuate the success of the program.

Yup - terrific investment for the university, keeps us in the headlines and nationally prominent, character and integrity beyond reproach - there is no price tag on those virtues. The discussion should be whether to make him the highest paid coach to lock him in, given what he brings to the table.
