OT- Two unbeatens playing for MIAA title Saturday

Submitted by jimmyshi03 on November 10th, 2022 at 7:58 PM

If you're in mid-Michigan Saturday and want to check out two unbeatens squaring off for a conference title, such an opportunity is available Saturday at 1.

Alma, 9-0 for the first time in the more than 100 years of the program, is at home against Albion, also 9-0, and going for its second straight conference title. The Brits are ranked #20 nationally in D3, the Scots are currently in others receiving votes. A playoff berth is also likely on the line, since the MIAA has actually never gotten two bids.

That was English vs Scots and occurred almost 400 years prior to the creation of Britain.

Britain or more accurately the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland(Grrr) is England, Wales, Scotland, and N.Ireland(Grrr to infinity).

People may think this is pedantic, but the distinction really is important. Different people, cultures, languages, etc.

Here's what you need to know:

When is the game? Our last home game of the regular season, against the 9-0 Albion Britons, is slated to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.

How can I get tickets? There's nothing quite like Bahlke Field in the fall, and the stakes couldn't be higher. Come out and support the team in person! Tickets are required and can be purchased here. General admission tickets are $5. Children ages 10 and under are free, as are adults ages 65 and over.

You can also download the Hometown Fan app, which will allow you to easily purchase, download and scan your ticket at check-in.

Where can I park? Alma is a small campus that is easy to navigate and has many parking options. Please visit the Parking & Maps page on our website to see all the info you need to know, including color-coded parking lot designations to accessible transit routes around the campus.

How can I watch from home? You don't have to miss the game, even if you can't make it in person! Tune into our live stream on YouTube

Where can I get more info about the team? It's been a season for the ages and almascots.comhas chronicled it all. From statistics to photos to news stories, you can find it all on almascots.comRead top stories...

We'd also invite you to listen to a podcast interview with Jason Couch, a Class of 1997 Alma alum and head coach since 2018, on the Great Lakes State Football YouTube page. Coach Couch talks about the team's tremendous run, a trip to Scotland in 2024, why athletes should consider Alma College, and more

That’s good stuff. Wish I could attend!  DIII football wonderful.  Can’t overstate the importance of games like this to the participants. Lifetime memories will be created.

Love to see some D3 football highlighted here. Would go if I wasn't going to be at the Michigan game. Great to hear about big non-d1 games though. Will keep my eye out for news about them here and elsewhere, especially during Michigan road game Saturdays next year.

Here’s your U-M connection: Albion QB Luke Lovell is the older brother of Michigan freshman edge Charlie Lovell. Their dad Erik was a kicker here in the early 1990s.

So … Go Brits!
