I have not seen it posted yet.  Passed away at age 69.

Hard to believe that Senior Smoke has passed. 69 is not looking that old now a days! In the last several years the Bird and  Rodriguez have passed away.

Mostly followed that season through the Stars and Stripes newspaper and Armed Forces Network (AFN) while in Germany.  What a magical season.  As fortune would have it I found myself TDY back to the States that September and was able to be at Tiger Stadium when they clenched the AL East beating Milwaukee 3-0.
