OT Pistons lose draft pick
Title says it all. The Pistons were picked 9, which gives their first round draft pick to the Charlotte Hornets.
LAME!
There's no way the Kings would give up the 8th pick for Brandon Jennings. They'd probably rather start McCallum than do that.
couple of years ago the Kings ownership might have bit---unfortunately, they appear a little savvier these days.
my bad
fuck you pistions
Losing their 1st rounder is a kick in the balls the Pistons richly deserve for trying to win meaningless games for much of the season. And the insane Jennings and Smith signings. And Charlie V. And Ben Gordon. And, for the love of God, Rodney Stuckey. And drafting Darko. Cleaves. Rodney freakin' White. Walter Sharpe. K(id) C(an't) P(lay). Oy vey.
fantastic chain of events:
sign gordon to a terrible contract > throw away lottery pick in great draft to unload said contract > use cap space from said unloading to sign josh smith to a terrible contract.
nevermind the dubious moves required to get gordon's cap space or what we'll have to do to unload smith.
i do blame gores, but dumars fell so far from the gm he was 10 years ago. unforgivable.
glad M basketball is good. dont care if i ever pay attention to the nba again.
That means they can't not draft Stauskas. I guess.
They're in prime position to make me a diehard fan.
They truly should take Stauskas and GRIII with their two first rounders. Paring those two with Kemba Walker is a nice combo, then they have MKG who gives them defense on the wing that GRIII and Stauskas both lack.
They've got Jefferson at C and McRoberts/Zeller at PF so I think it's a year too early to give up on Zeller.
If I'm them, take the Michigan duo and then get a PF in the 2nd round. They need guys who can put the ball in the basket and Stauskas and Robinson III can do just that.
rumblings that Detroit may do a sign and trade along with the 38th pick to get that 9th pick back...I heard they like the idea of Monroe and Jefferson side by side
is too long a season. Nobody can go full-bore for 3000 basketball-minutes per year. You either find a way to reduce your workload (and thus look like you "aren't trying") or your body does it for you (see Varejao, A.).
because of all the cities and teams in the league, why would the NBA ever rig it for Cleveland? They wouldn't.
Agree. Cleveland and Milwaukee picking 1 and 2 is the least desireable outcome for the league. Besides, the lottery is monitored by independant auditors and team representatives.
The "Lottery is rigged" people are one of the most annoying groups of people in all of sports. Like you said, they seem to ignore that all of the reps and auditors are there and that you can come up with a conspiracy theory for any team winning the lottery. If Minnesota had won, they're trying to keep Love in a small market. If Boston or LA had won, they want a storied franchise to get the best player, etc. Just a dumb theory.
Money Talks and who has access to more than Dan Gilbert!
Who cares if we got the 1st pick? There is no LeBron/Durant in this draft, which means we still need to not screw it up like, oh, less than 12 months ago.
You guys won a championship in 2004, how did that feel? I wouldn't know, because I've never seen a team win a championship in my lifetime, blow me.
do you have a favorite NBA team?
I just don't get why everyone is acting like this instantly vaults Cleveland into the playoffs. The organization is a complete disaster still, and they could still easily fuck this up. Dan Gilbert doesn't know how to do anything except set up a trashy casino, and throw money at the wall hoping that it sticks.
It's like there's a reason they've been in the lottery enough times to have three number one picks in four years.
