The Chidester Broke the tie!
USA won 1-0 against Canada. Great pitching from Abbott with 9k’s. A little scare in the 6th but a great relay throw from centerfield preserved the win.
Canada's approach was to use their entire pitching staff, an inning or two at a time. Chidester helped scratch out a run. With Monica Abbott on the mound, that's all they needed. Abbott, as far as softball goes, is both Michael Jordan and LeBron James in one package. Almost single-handedly, she would make any decent team the favorite for the gold. She has been timed as high as 77 mph pitching, which no one has matched. At 43 feet, that's just about impossible to hit.
With the top two finishers in the six-team pool going directly to the gold-medal game, this was a huge win. Scores are so low at this level that upsets are quite possible.

Did they not think to actually build a softball field? WTF!
