OT- Michigan urn or memorial items

Trying to find a Michigan urn for my father who was a lifetime Michigan fan and letterman during his time here. I didn’t think it would be difficult but it might be a licensing restriction. I’ve only found one with a floating football helmet where a lot of other schools are available along with other memorial items. Has anyone been successful at finding something like this?

There must be local artisans where you live, including potters. I’m sure you could collaborate on a design and color scheme that would resonate with you and your memories of your father and don’t explicitly violate Michigan’s branding rights. Get an urn fired up with special personal feelings.

I think this is something I’d hire an artist to create, and if I felt guilty about using the trademark, I’d send an appropriately-sized donation to the school in exchange, in memory of your dad.  Fair to everyone.

My Dad passed in January. My parents were married on the 50 yard line in Michigan Stadium so needless to say he was a huge fan. I was told by the owner of the funeral home there’s a licensing issue.
Hilarious thing was that he told me “he knew a guy” that could get me a Michigan urn but it was expensive. I got the urn a few weeks after his funeral and it was a blue urn with a block M sticker on it. A quick Amazon search showed the exact sticker came in a pack of 20 for $11. The funeral director charged an absurd amount of money for it. Always looking to screw the grieving.

My mom knitted (or maybe it was crocheted) a block M cover for the box that held my dad's ashes.  It was beautiful.  We also attached a "Michigan Dad" pin to it.  If you know someone who knits/crochets it's a really beautiful option.

Sorry for the loss and (as others have described) the urn issue. Etsy had one, Walmart had one, but both are out of stock. It's disgusting how other schools have them but not U of M.

The University of Michigan website states that "All printing and production of materials that use U-M registered trademarks must be done by a licensed vendor. This applies to both U-M departments and student groups." Not much help but just wanted to put it out there.

I'd advocate the artisan route (as others have advocated for) if you're set on an urn.

Can I ask how long you're willing to wait for an urn to be created, or what memorial items you might have in mind?
