OT: The Lions may have hired Dan Campbell as HC

Snowflake warning: this is from Yahoo sports, and seems to be the only service confirming the news, so far.  But it looks like the Saints TE coach for the last 5 years will be the Lions new head coach.  He'll pair up with the Rams Director of College Scouting (Brad Holmes).  If this is true, the Lions will cement their dominance of the NFL's Junior Varsity division...

Here's the link from Yahoo...

The best that can be said of this hire is that he's not Marvin Lewis who was considered as one of the front runners. Mr 0-7 in playoff wins and ran basically a halfway house for criminals in Cincy.  However this hire also just reeks of SOL's.

As a Bears fan, whenever I want to cheer myself up about how shit my team are, I read news about the Lions and the Jets, and I automatically feel better. I would just like to thank Lions fans for their sacrifice!!

But that is perfectly in keeping with my point. The Bears are basically the definition of NFL mediocrity. We are never any good and even when we made the Super Bowl in '06, it was quite obvious that whoever came out of the AFC was going to stomp us, because our offense was awful. Which is why only the Lions and Jets can make me feel good. We suck too, but not quite as much as them.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same thing (for over 60 years) and expecting different results.
