OT: Iowa "Wave" is up for International Award
How about some POSITIVE news about a fellow B1G school for a change?
After winning Disney's Spirit Award, "The Wave" has been nominated for a Laureus award, for best sporting moment of the year. It's the only U.S. nomination in that category.
The Laureus World Sports Awards will be held in Monaco on February 27th.

I hope they can send some of the kids to Monaco for the presentation.

With all the things they could have put next to their football stadium, putting a children's hospital there would seem to not even be an option. It's so awesome that they did though! Good for them.

The hospital had been there for a LONG time. But they just recently opened the new addition that overlooks the stadium - thus, a new 'tradition' was born just this year. Good on 'em for doing something this friggen cool with it!

I live near Iowa City and have a friend who is a nurse at the children's hospital. Words fail to describe how much this simple guesture means to those kids and their families.
As a Michigan honk and Iowa State alumnus, I really dislike the Hawkeyes, but good on them for doing this. Tip of the hat to Iowa fans.

I work for the hospital as well, I'm in IT stationed in the Support building in North Liberty/Coralville.

Saw this new tradition while watching Iowa curb stomp the Bucknuts. If it doesn't make you tear up, well it should. Of course, now some NFL owner will try to add a hospital wing on to his (her?) new public-financed stadium to leverage this organic feel-good story...
