OT Galarraga-Avila/Laird Scuffle
Don't know if any of you are watching the Tigers game but Galaragga and Avila started to exchange words in the dugout. Laird game over and was clearly telling Galarragga to f*** off and Galarraga takes a little swing at him while being restrained by Lloyd McClendon. This team is a mess.
In other news, the Tigers have a chance to win this series. Up 10-8 in the top of the 9th.

Just another reason August needs to speed up

Why yes it is. Any one thing that Leland is back next year?
August 15th, 2010 at 5:50 PM ^
I don't know if he should be. He hasn't done a bad job, but he hasn't really done a good job either except for the one year we made the WS. He's just too damn stubborn.

Mr. Ilitch has already said that Leyland will return next season. Unless things really go to hell in a handbasket next season I think he'll hang around for 2012, and that will be it. He's 65 now. I give him two more years, max.

he might just say that it is time for someone else to take over for him.

His contract is up after 2011

looked like a sad panda in that video. This should make all of our hearts sore, folks.

Eh, not a huge deal to me. This seems to happen somewhat frequently in baseball dugouts - guys start jawing, there's a little pushing and shaving, but nothing much else. Clearly Laird said the magic words to get Galarraga riled up, but I doubt this will turn into anything, especially with the win. I do think that when your two catchers are batting around .200, though, I can see why a pitcher might not want to hear from them.
August 15th, 2010 at 6:19 PM ^
...isn't always on the same page. What catchers need to be reminded of is that the 'W' or 'L' goes next to the pitcher's name, not the catchers'.

The 'W' or 'L' goes next to the team's name, which both the pitcher and catcher have a vested interest in.

Well, some of that luster from the class that Galarraga showed during his "perfect game" this year has disappeared...
You don't fight with teammates in the dugout. That's a big no-no. Hopefully he learns from this, since he seemed to be the instigator.

Laird took a swing? I don't have to see a replay to know he missed...

Laird must have been confused by the heat and thought he was at a Phoenix Suns game.

It's the dog days of August, not a big deal. 72-74 A's won 3 straight World Series bitching and fighting with each other the whole time.
I didn't catch the game but the Tigers erupted at some point after the fisticuffs. That's the kinda fire RR is going to light under M this fall. I pity UConn.

Avila told him he didn't like his Rahmini Eye Instiue commercial.

What do any of these three guys know about having good vision? In a dream of mine, these three clowns would go kick Inge's ass. Then Inge would return all of that money we are paying him to hit .230 every season.
