OT: The Dream Cruise
So my parents just got back from the Dream Cruise and felt the need to call me and tell me about it.
IT'S THE SAME EVERY YEAR! God, there is nothing I miss less about Michigan than being forced to watch some old cars drive up and down Woodward every year.
So, what are your epinions on the Cruise?

I'm not all that interested in cars so I think it's ghey. But to each his own. I'm just glad I don't have to use Woodward everyday like some folks.

The Dream Cruise is unique and cool. Tons of things are the same every year, but they're still great.

... I think it's great for Detroit to celebrate some cool old cars, but I can't help but see the irony of celebrating an industry and its output that has slowly strangled itself over the last 30 years.
If it gives people something to do on a Saturday, good for them, though.

I like newer cars. Some old cars are cool, but I like newer exotic cars. Recently I saw one of the best car collections ever. Around 150 cars, had to be worth over $20 million. Around 10 lambos, 10 ferraris. Lamborghini Reventon and Bugatti Veyron. Over 30 different Corvettes. Some Rolls-Royces, bunch of other stuff. This guy had everything.

cool story bro.

Thanks dude. I have a bunch more too. My great grandpa had the largest car collection in the world in the 40s and 50s. My uncle owns the first Caddy ever built. He also has a go-cart that goes 90 mph that we got to drive down the highway. I'm sorry that I love to tell car stories.

is always good fun - but I'm from a long line of UAW workers - so don't take my word for it.

Kinda surprised that more people aren't on board with the event. Given that it is in Southeast Michigan and the amount of households that have existed as a result of the Big 3, I can accept for the one weekend a year it is. To most of these people this is their version of sports, we have Tate vs Denard and they have Mustang vs Camaro.

It's not really my thing, but it's a unique little event and helps the local economy a bit.

I live in the area and use Woodward frequently. If it was just Saturday, that would be OK, but folks start cruising early in the week. The traffic gets a little frustrating.

Makes my drive home from work a bitch.

My recollection is this:
Your 1984 Buick Skylark does not qualify as a classic car. Go home.

yeah there's way too much of that. or people with modern sports cars (Corvettes, Mustangs etc) - it's for classic cars you nobs.
on a related note, the only time I've ever participated in the dream cruise was in high school. some friend of a friend of friend had a Camero - a 1995 Camero. that was really lame.

The lone exception is people who have to drive down Woodward for some reason, but yes... there is nothing lamer than bringing your new car to an event primarily about 60's muscle cars.

you yell that at me if you see me there in mine next year...

The WS6 is an exception because it IS an American muscle car. Driving your Camry in the Dream Cruise is what I was talking about... I assume Chrisgo as well.
