"We're tired of the killings and the injustice," Bucks guard George Hill told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.

Us too, George. Us too :(

[EDIT @6:10pm]: I'm taking the unusual step of locking this thread until 7:30pm.  Emotions in the thread are getting way too heated with insults being tossed left and right; I'm going to remove the most offensive comments.

"DonBrownsMustache" has been banned.

I'll reopen the thread at 7:30 and then hope to keep it open for meaningful discussion.

Everybody please calm down and maybe reflect upon what led to these postponements, what led to the protests and unrest in Kenosha and elsewhere.

[Edit #2 @ 7:20 pm]:. I'll be removing the lock shortly. I've removed 3 or 4 comments but when I did, some direct threaded  replies disappeared with them.  I've also edited out some insults in about a half-dozen posts.  Two accounts have been banned and a couple others are on thin ice.

Let's see if we can turn this into a civil MGoBoard discussion about an important major sports development, instead of yet another session of shit-slinging, Ok?  If we can't, it'll quickly get permanently locked and more heads WILL roll.

[3rd and final edit]  Re-locking (or should I call it "red-locking?) this thread. It's essentially run its course, and though I wish to thank the large majority who kept the discussion civil once I reopened it @ 7:30, I don't dare risk it going off the rails overnight, and I certainly don't have time in the morning to weigh in.  Also don't want to leave a mess for the other mods to deal with tomorrow.

Again, my appreciation to the many who made thoughtful contributions.

There's no difference there, actually.  If the pregnancy was a mistake, she should be able to terminate it within the current lawful limits regardless of reason.  You don't have to like the reason, but only she (and maybe the father) gets to decide that.  Spare me your bigoted response and feel free to not get your own abortion.  You don't get to come inside my bedroom and determine what my wife and I can decide.

That's a very interesting** take...

Regardless, by allowing women to choose what happens to their body, your distinction is irrelevant. As a pro-choice individual I believe that women will carry nearly all of the physical, mental, financial and emotional burdens associated with bringing a child into this world (let's ignore the fact that they will continue to disproportionately continue to carry these burdens after the child is born). This is why, I support a woman's right to make a choice on whether or not she is prepared to carry those burdens based on all of the contributing factors in her life. But it could also be because I believe "C0ndOms are DUMB and abortionz are totally rad" -- either way, what I think is irrelevant, because it's not my decision to make.

**extremely shitty

It starts with omnipotent government. It ends with gulags and totalitarianism

The  faith people put in concentrated power is a further indication of just how similar Americans as a whole are to Germans in the 30’s. Americans already are susceptible to charismatic leaders.

Education system at all levels is failing us spectacularly.

Can you actually explain how it's spot on? Can you explain how democratic governments in Europe, or Canada or even here are on track for gulags?

No. Of course you can't. It just a story that fits your sensibilities. And by using the word totalitarianism he sold you because once upon a time you both read Animal Farm. Brilliant.

How your sensibilities could be so far removed reality is another question, but that would be for your psychologist. Similarly, Quattro seems to still be living in the 1940s and 50s with his incessant fear mongering about gulags and Stalinism.

Quattro is off-base, but I'll take a hack at his attempt...  I think he was trying to say that the current version of the Rep Party is looking somewhat like the Nazi Party in the early 30's.  The visual's from the RNC, the total focus on whatever Trump wants, the full-throated movement towards nationalism...  Other than that, there are no similarities - the Republicans aren't going to start mass murdering opponents or starting wars to expand the country.  They may go the route of Hungary or Belarus, but they aren't going full Nazi.

Didn't answer the question and then just spouted off more absurd claims that you can't even begin to support with anything approaching supporting evidence. You think you're a free thinker. You are missing the thinker part.

I try not to get too political on these boards because it becomes just too toxic too fast. I really can't see a major difference between a doctor snuffing out a baby's life, versus these cops shooting this man in the back. Really sad and angering in both cases.

Alright, I'm out.

@theytookourjobs: Why does life begin at conception? Isn’t conception just part of a larger process? Part of that process is a mans body producing sperm cells. So really a guy masturbating to the point of ejaculation is murder, based on your process driven opinion. How many potential babies have you killed?

Hahahha omg this post is amazing.

Babies are probably 1/5th of a person but get white catholics much more triggered than a 3/5ths of a person.

This is all fecetious of course.  The OP though..whoa!

Didn't you know that weapons only matter when black people have them?

Philando Castile, who was licensed to carry a weapon, and was doing what the law and common sense requires of him, which is tell the officer you are licensed to carry a weapon, was gunned down in an instant.  NRA was completely silent.  But a bunch of hillbillies can stroll around government buildings cosplaying Delta Farce and it's all good.

Hell, gun down a church of black people who invite you to Bible study, and you'll get Burger King.

This country is beyond repair.

Waco was burned down with 75 mostly people in it. Randy Weaver’s unarmed wife was shot and killed. A six year old boy was shot to death by a black cop just a few years ago. A white man died in 2018 from the same hood applied to George Floyd.

We just saw a troop of Black people in black gear and armed at Stone Mountain and nothing happened.

You live with blinders on.

Nice cherrypicking of history.  A six year old boy was shot to death by a black cop just a few years ago.  So not like hundreds of times in the last few months....  Something something, scale, statistics, histograms... Frequency of events....What you're really saying is that it's shitty both ways and needs to be fixed, and yes it needs to be fixed both ways.  #independantpoliceoversight #endqualifiedimmunity

I mean the Idaho legislature just got stormed by Ammon Bundy and his armed group of idiots. They all left alive and with a misdemeanor or two at most. As white privilege goes, that's the most white-priviligiest. And if it isn't, then it's second only to that time in 2016 his merry band o terrorists executed an armed takeover of a federal facility in a national park and didn't all end up dead or in Guantanamo.

Sounds like the Celtics and Raptors may also boycott.  And it sounds like the Bucks were ready to forfeit the game and take the loss, so good on them.

I'm glad athletes feel comfortable and enabled to protest.

Now that politics is 100% sports, I will offer my input: if that many police officers can’t tackle / otherwise subdue him before resorting to shooting him in the back, they needed to retire long ago.

This is also the explanation the cop will come up with, and it will probably work, which will lead to more mayhem. But if they can kill him because they think he's going for a gun once he reaches the car, they should have been trained to tackle him before he gets anywhere near it.

There's no explanation that doesn't point to awful training, loss of control of the situation by police, and escalation by police to the point of a police [maiming]. And that's the friendliest possible interpretation of the situation. There's really no excuse.
