I am so giddy about this season... If the bigs are able to hold their own underneath (which I think they will be able to do), the ceiling can be so high for this team.  Irvin and Walton are ready to make big jumps... I think we'll be able to compete with the best by March.

Beilein is such a great leader that he'd probably do a great job with not only the mens basketball team, but also the MIchigan Marching Band, women's hoops, Michigan Football, Lacrosse, and anything else he'd try.  INCLUDING the job of AD.

Where would you guys put Beilein in regards to college hoops coaches?  I know we're biased, but I have a hard time saying he's not top 5.

In terms of X's and O's, I have a hard time thinking of a coach who is better. Great adjustments in game, and gets the most out of all his players, taking decent to good high schoolers, and turns them into lottery picks.
Quite a stark contrast to, eh..."other Michigan coaches."

Top 5? I really want to say he can be there, but I also recognize that I'm biased as hell. But Pitino, Calipari, Donovan, Krzyzewski, and Wichita State's coach, those are guys who have legitimate cases to be top 5 as well.

That being said, it can be argued that no one in America does more with less than Beilein does. There may not be a better developer of talent or X's and O's tactician. So, top-5? It can be argued that he is. Top-10 definitely. All that's holding him back I think is the hardware, and the fact that legacy coaches like Coach K are always going to get the nod for the top spot.

is he tempering expectations on zack? with derrick he seems to saying the kid will make the leap, but for  zak he says 'he'll have a chance'.

JB knows which players need to be pressured or challenged and which ones need to have the hype toned down a bit.  All I am going to read into his comments about Irvin is that he knows how to get the best out of everyone and obviously feels that saying "he has a chance" is the best way to help him grow.
