Next weekend's B1G schedule
Somehow, our esteemed conference schedule maker managed to give six teams a bye next Saturday. And then these are the four matchups we're getting:
Michigan at Maryland
Rutgers at Illinois
Nebraska at Purdue
Northwestern at Indiana (prime time!)
Is that the worst slate of games in league history?

Didn't Ohio State just have a bye? Like last week?
October 27th, 2019 at 9:13 PM ^
Basically. Bye to tune up before their big showdown @ NW 2 Fridays ago.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:31 PM ^
Ohio State had a bye, two games, then a bye.
MSU gets bye, PSU, bye in 3 consecutive weeks!

Guaranteed 5 portal entrees during Sparty’s bye week.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:37 PM ^
If we hadn't dumped Arkansas for Notre Dame, would we have had bye-Maryland-bye, or did we move a conference game?
October 27th, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
Michigan plays next Saturday. Don’t care about the other garb
October 27th, 2019 at 9:10 PM ^
Ditto. Any day Michigan is playing is a good day.
Until they lose. Then it gets fucked up real fast.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:32 PM ^
Fair point.
Still, it's probably our least interesting non-Rutgers game of the league schedule. (Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be too "interesting" at that.)
October 27th, 2019 at 9:49 PM ^
I am totally on board with you! Sadly for all the "nooners" on this blog who frequently say their favorite part of kicking off at Noon is being able to watch all the other college football games so this must be very important to them.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:04 PM ^
That's really not the point man.
It's more that, a lot of us like watching Michigan and other teams play over the course of a Saturday. There are three timeslots and Michigan only plays in one of them. It's cool when there are good games in the other timeslots, too. It's also nice, during one of the million TV timeouts in our game, to see what's going on in another game.

Jim Delaney! FROM HELL'S HEART I STAB AT THEE!!
October 27th, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
OH I KNOW I KNOW!! Genghis Khan!
October 27th, 2019 at 10:12 PM ^
Or was it Joan of Arc? Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
October 28th, 2019 at 4:58 AM ^
No Corinthian Leather seats for you!
October 27th, 2019 at 9:08 PM ^
Ohio State has a Bye Bye.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:08 PM ^
MSU just came off a bye week. Played PSU and now has another bye week.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:59 PM ^
Three weeks in a row where they didn’t play?? Damn.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
Probably 5 weeks...
October 27th, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
+1 Insightful
October 27th, 2019 at 11:09 PM ^
let’s put it this way, by the time sharty plays Illinois in two weeks they will have scored a total of 7 points in the previous 4 weeks.
The funny thing is you could legitimately ask if ANY of those weeks were byes. #dumpstersburnbrighterthancouches
October 28th, 2019 at 9:54 AM ^
They deserve more rest. They play more guys than anyone.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:08 PM ^
Only eight teams playing?
October 27th, 2019 at 9:11 PM ^
Oh, you don't want to talk about the Wofford Terriers
playing Clemson?
October 27th, 2019 at 9:33 PM ^
Sure. This is one of their OOC games. It should be over early and often.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:51 PM ^
These are the kinda games that us M fans can just pray becomes the new biggest upset ever. I'll pay attention for a bit. Would help if Clemson were #1.
October 27th, 2019 at 10:18 PM ^
Wofford has pulled huge upsets before. For instance, they beat Appalachian State in 2007.
Sorry, couldn't resist. :-)
October 27th, 2019 at 11:05 PM ^
Fucker. You made me look that shit up. Point to you.
Do you know where Wofford is? I truly do not and will guess - SC. If you do then not fair.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:42 PM ^
Their home stadium has 13,000 seats. The Carolina Panthers practice there.
A Panther practice:
A video of Wofford football.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:48 PM ^
Seeing this, maybe Michigan should play Northern.
October 28th, 2019 at 1:35 AM ^
Yeah seems like you knew where Wofford was. I was close. Point me. Even.
October 28th, 2019 at 9:03 AM ^
5 seconds of typing, and 3 seconds of clicking, got me there.
But I type with only index fingers. 10 fingers would have got me there in half the time.
October 27th, 2019 at 11:41 PM ^
....either could sandusky!
October 28th, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
Remember when Penn State lost to the team who lost to Appalachian State in 2007? And we were playing without our senior QB in that one. That was cool.
9th straight loss in the series. Would have been 11th straight had we played in 2003 and 2004.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:14 PM ^
43% of the conference on bye. But for comparison, 40% of the Big XII is on bye as well next week. So is 28% of the SEC.
14 week schedule - 12 games for each team - it is what it is.
1997 had a 14 week schedule and 11 games for each team. Everyone had 3 byes! Though for Michigan, it didn't feel like it, because their byes were weeks 1, 2 and 14. But someone like Pittsburgh had their byes in weeks 5, 8 and 11. So they had a mid-season 57 day stretch where they played 4 games.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:18 PM ^
We would have had a bye yesterday if we hadn't scheduled Notre Dame, in addition to the one we have on November 9.
So we were going to have a bye, then Maryland, then another bye.
Having 14 teams in this conference is really weird.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:27 PM ^
Illinois is rolling right now. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them beat sparty.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:36 PM ^
It would be great if Michigan and Illinois beat the Shartans.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:28 PM ^
It is not the worst slate of games because Michigan is playing.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:30 PM ^
Michigan
illinois
nebraska
indiana
the winners
October 27th, 2019 at 9:34 PM ^
That sounds about right.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:45 PM ^
Don’t count out Purdue; Scott Frost will be on the other sideline.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:50 AM ^
You were correct
October 27th, 2019 at 9:33 PM ^
It's better than having byes in the conference schedule on Nov. 23 like the SEC!
October 27th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
Looking further ahead, it looks like The Game will have no bearing on OSU's playoff spot. It will already be wrapped up, assuming they take care of PSU at home the week before. Even if they lose to Michigan, they are still in the playoffs as long as they win the B1G scrimmage against Minny, Iowa or Wisconsin. OSU can lose to Michigan and still easily make the playoffs. We can't even spoil their season.
October 27th, 2019 at 9:44 PM ^
Trust me...a loss to Michigan would be a spoiled season even if OSU still makes the playoff.
October 28th, 2019 at 9:07 AM ^
I guess we're flattered by so much attention. We must be the best looking girl at the party.
October 28th, 2019 at 5:02 PM ^
So they did a poll on twitter thousands of Buckeye fans voted.. the question: would you rather beat Michigan and NOT make the college football playoff OR Lose to Michigan but make the playoff ? well over 60/40 said beating Michigan .. I am a Buckeye .. and yes even the natty would have a bitter taste to it if we lose to UM
October 27th, 2019 at 9:56 PM ^
Yeah, it seems quite likely that they'll have the division sewn up before playing us. If PSU also loses to Minnesota, OSU will have won the division outright.
But then . . . could they have a letdown in the Big House?
October 27th, 2019 at 10:40 PM ^
No, unless by letdown you mean only winning by 14.
