You better think about something else, each and every one of you. When you pull on that jersey, you represent yourself and your teammates...and the name on the front is a hell of a lot more important than the one on the back. Get that through your head. AGAIN!

i know it's not going to happen, but there was that window in time where it was at least somewhat plausible.  would've been fun.

let's hope it's a great choice.  time for the hockey team to get back to where it should be.

Dan Milstein is not a reputed source. "NHL Agent" is a loose term to describe him as well. He's a mortgage broker who represents Datsyuk. Of all the people who would have this story first, I really doubt it would be him.

Checked his site. He's a mortgage lender who fled Russia and settled in Ann Arbor in 1991. He represents a handful of Russian hockey players, which seems like a good combination of his financial skills and what I presume to be his strength in both languages. His twitter feed contains basically no breaking news, except for the occasional announcement of an achievement or contract for one of his clients.

Obviously he's worked with the Wings; he also has a client on the Leafs. Take all of this for what it's worth.

Nah, I think he stayed the right amount of time. Its been a rough few years, however it's never easy to be the successor to a legend. Instead of possibly being stuck with a non-elite legacy hire for 5+ years, Michigan has had a year to go out and find the very best coach available. I would bank on them having done just that as the last few years haven't changed the fact that Michigan is still one of only a handful of top college hockey jobs in the country. Regardless, one thing we can all agree on is Red has certainly earned the right to go out on his terms!

Bear Bryant was a lifetime smoker and alcoholic who had heart attack and strokes in the years leading up to his retirement... then he promptly died of a massive heart attack. Red has been in great health, and I dare say anyone who has spent any amount of time around him would say he is cognitively sound with a great deal of energy... so yeah, I'd take a 77 year old Red in 2017 over a 69 year old Bear Bryant in the early 80s every day of the week.

Well you know who's at least partly to blame for that

Last year would've been better for his legacy and probably the program. Although they probably underachieved at 8th in the pairwise or whatever it was, still far better than going out with this team. They would have sucked this year regardless of who's coach, but recruited better for next year

about 3 years too long. Could see it in how the team played. It's like he just lost touched with the players the last few years. Almost like his message just didn't get through anymore, I have to attribute it to generational thing.

Love Red and we should probably do something at Yost to honor him forever, but really looking forward to a new coach taking over the program.
