Thanks for the link. His top end speed didn't seem to be elite, very fast but catchable, but his acceleration definitely is. Shows some pretty good hands out of the backfield along with great cutback ability as well. That is the first video I have taken the time to watch of Drake. Looks like a pretty good football player. RR knows what he likes.

They should play that music at the big house

wow he accelerates so fast i thought my video was skipping haha

Great acceleration, looks like a great fit for the offense. He's already used to the zone read I see.

can say is wow. He accelerates like woah. 90% of the time he hit a crease and put on the burners and was gone for 50 yards. I saw 1 person catch him from behind, everyone else had angles. Perfect fit.

Thanks for the video. I like the music too, it suits the video and doesnt detract from it.
Kid looks like a 'balla'... what I find interesting is that he seems to have long legs, and is a strider, especially for his height.. he is very fluid as a runner..
Most 5-9 kids are darters like Tay Odoms etc. but Tony Drake is more of a strider...
At this point, I think we can all agree to trust RR in getting the perfect guys to fit his system and no doubt he sees qualities in Drake that suit the offense well.

I am glad we got in early on this guy! It looks like he has great hands out of the backfield and incredible burst. If he was bigger he would be a 4* now but I dont care how you are rated if you can move like that against Texas competition.

Acceleration that would be good enough to get 4-5 yards per play if this guy can follow just one block. We keep moving the chains like that, in a hurry-up offense, and I will love seeing Boren gasping for air. Then who's gonna start swearing and lack family values? Welcome to Michigan Tony Drake!

Unfortunately for us, Boren doesn't play defense

so this kid looks like a slot receiver right? or am i the only one who thought that...
September 16th, 2009 at 9:17 AM ^
Yeah, Drake most likely will be a slot receiver. He's shifty and his good acceleration will be nice for bubble screens and quick slants.

I like that this kid already runs a similar offense, that ought to really help him contribute early you would think.

His running style reminds me of Barry Sanders.

I watched him play against Arlington Bowie last Friday and he was very impressive. Bowie is a very talented team (there are few 5A teams in the Metro-Plex that aren't) and he ran really well against him. I also thought he looked Barryesque. As stated above not the fastest top speed but he can be gone in 60 seconds.

I don't care if he doesn't have that elite level speed.. kid's still a real burner. Thanks for the video.

Wow...his acceleration is legit. It's like he sees a hole and BOOM, off to the races. Thanks for the link.

Gotta agree with everyone. The first thing I noticed was his acceleration. Top end isn't there, but damn can he hit the hole quick.

He really is running RichRod's offense already. Good find.
