Such a great year to have student season basketball tickets.

That's fun. Thanks.

Crazy to think Lisa Ann's pornographic fame was catapulted by the Republican Party.

To date, that is (IMO, anyway) the greatest off-field achievement of any UM athlete.

Yeah, well ... context matters! :) Send word when Mrs. Brady is potentially a couple of degrees from the nuclear football ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_football ).
It is true that Glen would've needed a time machine to measure his achievement in 1987.

Oh, he was closer than a few degrees away. But, I don't think it's nice to call the one-time almost-Vice-President's vagina a "nuclear football"...

Very nicely done.

Like the football, it's probably not the first time she was handcuffed to a military aide.

MERRICA!!!

Beat me to it Faux. Gotta check on the site more frequently I guess. I've seen Glen Rice ball, now I want to see Glen ball with Sarah.
So...I've stared at my comment above for 30 seconds deciding if it is too juvenile to post but realized the moral and ethical standards of this Board. So...it stands.

You betcha.

Famous for banging 3s.

Glen Rice was a great player, and the scouting report on him was well known that he liked going to the right to score.
September 10th, 2020 at 12:44 PM ^
Very cool. Thanks for doing that.
I forgot about J.P. Oosterbaan being on that team. I think he was one of Bennie's grandsons, maybe?
September 10th, 2020 at 12:51 PM ^
Legendary shooter, but he was damn good in transition too!
September 10th, 2020 at 12:51 PM ^
You forgot to not link the link.
September 10th, 2020 at 12:54 PM ^
how do you do that
September 10th, 2020 at 1:26 PM ^
Garde Thompson.
September 11th, 2020 at 7:44 AM ^
Very hard to find decent footage of him. Maybe Trey Burke?
September 10th, 2020 at 3:17 PM ^
That was fun, especially when I cast it to the TV in the room where my kids were working on school stuff by mistake.
September 10th, 2020 at 4:40 PM ^
Better that than Pornhub.
September 10th, 2020 at 4:41 PM ^
Where they supposed to be working on Minecraft?
September 10th, 2020 at 3:28 PM ^

31 years later, his NCAA tourney scoring record still stands.
Probably will still stand 31 years from now

What a season he had, but it’s also funny that he was shooting from the same 3 point line as 7th grade boys and girls, and I don’t remember anybody shooting long 3’s back then.
September 11th, 2020 at 10:11 AM ^
No doubt that he could have. Smoother than silk that guy was

Thanks for the video!
I LOVED that team and season. The beat down they gave UVA and the vaunted Bryant Stith. Without checking the box score, I am near 100% certain that Rice scored 32 and Higgins had 31 that game. And then to finally beat Illinois after losing to them twice during the regular season.
Where I grew up, they were on TV somewhere between 12-15 times that season. I kept stats for those games on a notepad and then transferred them to some rudimentary program on my Apple II+. I think the printout is in a box somewhere in my mom’s house.

I was there in Rupp,, but on TV you supposedly could see that Higgins was upset that Rice scored more points than he did that game.
The next Michigan game I saw at Rupp was a little more intense, but also didn't happen.
September 10th, 2020 at 11:02 PM ^
The next game at Rupp DID happen, as did the one after it. It was not until the Final Four that games were "vacated" because Ed Martin did not meet the definition of a "representative" of the U until the Final Four.

The first three of the video looks like the one that put Michigsn up 5 against UNC with a bit less than one minute remaining. That was the moment for me personally where I was like shit, Michigan could go to the Final Four. That Michigan team obviously had a lot of talent but they finished third in the conference, so there were a lot of what-ifs before the tourney started. And then Frieder did something hilariously foolish and Bo responded with something hilariously Bo. And then Fisher turned Rice loose on the world in a way that seems obvious now. Quite a three week period, capped off by a Grateful Dead concert.

IIRC, there was a minor kerfuffle over students going apeshit on South U after the championship. The University president at the time tried to argue that it wasn't students and the U shouldn't have to pay for the property damage, comically suggesting that it was deadheads who were rioting instead.

Ahhhh, university presidents struggling to get their finger on the pulse - not a new phenomenon
