I need a recap. Who wrestles today, and for what stakes?

I was in the midst of typing it up when you asked. Currently doing it from my phone, not the quickest way to do it.

Thanks for doing this. It's awesome.

It's been my pleasure. After the medal round is finished I still think I'll write up a diary of all the Michigan wrestlers this weekend. I had planned on being more in depth than that, maybe next year I'll be able to plan something out ahead of time on how to do so.
Well, I wrote up that diary I talked about.

Tonight in the finals we'll have at 125 Nick Suriano as the 1 seed take on 3 seed Pat Glory of Princeton. And at 184 a rematch of the Big Ten championship as 1 seed Myles Amine will face 2 seed Aaron Brooks of Penn State. Brooks looking to avenge his lone loss of the season.
In 157 the 8 seed Will Lewan will take on 1 seed David Carr of Iowa State. In 165 the 6 seed Cameron Amine will face the 4 seed Dean Hamiti of Wisconsin. In 174 the 3 seed Logan Massa faces 5 seed Michael Kemerer of Iowa. And at Heavyweight (285) the 7 seed Mason Parris will take on 4 seed Greg Kerkvliet of Penn State. In all four of these matches the winner will go for 3rd, while the loser will drop to the 5th place match.

We have two guys in the finals.
Suriano and Myles Amine.
PSU has five guys and a lead that’s to much to catch at this stage.
It’s looking like 2nd place which is disappointing but truly an amazing season for this team.

I am disappointed that you have any disappointment for a second place finish-with Penn State sitting there as they are. Honestly, winning the B1G was pretty miraculously stunning. I might be a bit disappointed if, given the present situation, they finish below second...would be somewhere between thrilled and shocked if they got two national champions.

No way to describe our first big ten championship in 50 years as anything but amazing. Hats off to the boys this weekend and to Penn state. They all worked their asses off
Hats off to all wrestlers - it’s a tough sport.
If you never wrestled, get a buddy, put your palms on his shoulders with his on yours, and just push each other for 3 minutes. You’ll be exhausted!

I have no doubt that going into this tournament the Michigan Wrestling team’s goal was to finish 1st.
If they can hold onto 2nd this would match the best finish in their history. Upsetting PSU in the BIg Ten Tournament was incredible.
Here is to a strong finish.
March 19th, 2022 at 12:33 PM ^
It would tie the best finish, which was accomplished back in 1995.
I believe amine clinched second for us...

And the next Wolverine who does win by fall will clinch the team title for Penn St.
Still plenty to wrestle for
Everyone wants to win their last match of the year. Agree, still plenty to wrestle for!
2005 was the last time UM finished 2nd overall
You're right. A quick google search yesterday told me it was in 1995, but Oregon State was runner-up that season.

Massa is up on mat 3.
March 19th, 2022 at 11:47 AM ^
Massa loses 6-4 in OT. Massa will wrestle for 5th.
March 19th, 2022 at 11:48 AM ^
Parris on deck on mat 4.
March 19th, 2022 at 12:11 PM ^
Parris falls 6-1, will wrestle for 5th.
March 19th, 2022 at 12:12 PM ^
Mat 1 will be the 3rd place matches, mat 2 will be 5th place, and mat 3 will be 7th. No Michigan wrestlers are going for 7th.
I believe Lewan is now on deck for his 5th place match.
Wow! Epic OT for Lewan!
Lewan with a huge takedown to win in OT 4-2.
That was a bad ass bear hug. Wow.
OT wrestling is so damn exciting!
I like that it’s called Sudden Victory! Hail to our victors!
C.Amine is up next.
C.Amine falls 3-2. Finishes 4th.
Cal Poly guy just stalled it out at the end.
That is a problem in collegiate wrestling; stalling is given far too much leeway.
Guys are so good at defense on their feet.
Massa coming up as well.
Massa wins 5-1, rides Plott into the ground in the 3rd period to finish 5th.
Is that a career for Massa now? Nice win!
Massa keeping the U of M crowd at LCA happy!
Parris is on deck.
Parris with the 8-5 decision, finishes 5th.
Who did he beat?
Lucas Davison of Northwestern.
And I have no idea who negged you, it was a valid question.
I guess we'll watch some bball too warm up for Amine-Rooks 3. Much respect for Steveson but i think we should have 184# be the last match
