B1G, dump Nebraska, take Vandy.
much better fit academically and make some inroads into southern recruiting /tv market.

It’s no worse /further geographically than Nebraska or Rutger and Maryland and their football is mediocre and basketball is solid.

Just another bump in the road for these folks. It's a mindset

They are going to play football. There will be game cancellations; there will be players who drop out.

But they are going with an even more haphazard version MLB model (b/c these are 18-24 year olds: they will make Zach Plesac look like a model of discipline) -- a few teams will be the St. Louis Cardinals or Miami Marlins and miss 2-4 games, while most others will make it thru with perhaps missing just one game.

The increased infections will just be seen as the cost of doing business.

Cases does not equal symptoms does not equal sickness does not equal spread does not equal hospitalizations does not equal ICU does not equal deaths.

Flattening the curve and death counts USED to be the focus - now it is simply positive cases used for fear.

No one is saying this is a hoax or not real (at least I am not), but its a virus. People (including children and college students) will get it.

We can't hide in our homes all our lives, and our kids and older students deserve to have the opportunity to live theirs

This is all true, yet does not account for the fact that 1) this virus has more severe symptoms than most other viruses of it's kind (e.g. highly contagious respriratory viruses such as influenza, rhinovirus, etc.) and 2) no one had any previous immunity to it (nor has if they haven't already been significantly exposed).  This is part of why the death & hospitalization numbers have been so high.  As you say, everyone will eventually get exposed, but the way to save the most lives in the long run is to limit the exposure/spread as much as possible now until a large percentage of the population has been vaccinated (which should be done in a matter of months... my guess is 3-6, but I am not an expert).

Unfortunately, this includes halting some normal activities - such as contact sports.  It sucks, but is worth it in the long run.

At first I thought the other conferences would eventually cancel. Now I am not sure. They seem set on playing and it seems like the only thing that will shut them down is the death of a player.
