Watch your mouth there!

That is what happened with the coke promotion too though. Coke got them through the Athletic department then gave them out in a promo. It is exactly like this.

Yep. It never ceases to amaze the number of posters who jump to defend Sparty here.

eh? Those poor, poor animals...

because I ready them with Mabel's voice!

I'd rather buy coke than support the big banks.

and cute that you think huntington is a "big bank"
September 16th, 2015 at 2:34 PM ^
Well it is the 33rd largest bank in the country by assets, so it's not like it was the craziest thing ever typed here.
September 16th, 2015 at 2:39 PM ^
in football terms. Like a good MAC team.
Although, the banking world is pretty much the top 5 -10, and then everybody else.
September 16th, 2015 at 3:01 PM ^
had to go to the google machine for this but, in terms of bank assets they are 0.42% of the market, and in terms of deposits the #15 bank (Fifth Third) had 1%, so I have to imagine they are around 0.1% of the total deposit market.
Top 5 banks are ~40% of deposits and 50% of assets
September 16th, 2015 at 2:41 PM ^
It's not systemically important and doesn't operate in the capital markets. Calling it a "Big Bank" would be like calling single-A baseball "The Show".
September 16th, 2015 at 2:55 PM ^
pretty sure they are a DSifi - just not a GSifi. Also I would seperate being involved in capital markets with whether or not you are a big bank, but thats just like my opinion man
September 16th, 2015 at 2:58 PM ^
Who the hell cares? I don't get the need to belittle people because they claim the 33rd largest bank is "big" when in fact it it is "systemically unimportant."

if people are going to bank bash for no apparent reason I am at least going to make sure facts are straight - by all means neg me away but we are critical and specific about far more things to start drawing the line anywhere
September 16th, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
September 16th, 2015 at 3:52 PM ^
they weren't a big bank as a statement of fact?
September 16th, 2015 at 4:19 PM ^
September 16th, 2015 at 4:24 PM ^
the commentor thinking the bank was big, nothing to do with the bank itself
September 16th, 2015 at 4:44 PM ^
September 16th, 2015 at 3:27 PM ^
I mean, factually it's not a global systemically important financial institution, which is what most people classify as "big banks". These are the banks that are subject to the Basel III capital requirements, must have a living will in place, must comply with stress tests, etc. Not that this is a worthwhile discussion anyways as these banks are generally bashed by people who have zero idea what they actually do or how important they are for the economy, but I digress.
September 16th, 2015 at 3:32 PM ^
And how "important" they are to the economy. And I bash them at every opportunity.
September 16th, 2015 at 3:17 PM ^
Not really a Big Bank, but a Columbus, OH - based bank ...
Well, I think technically Easton, OH outside of Columbus, but still
September 16th, 2015 at 4:44 PM ^
maybe they are giving away coolers as the account opening giveaway?
September 16th, 2015 at 5:44 PM ^
is the 4th largest Regional Bank in the Midwest and that is only if you believe USB is still small enough to consider regional. Only FifthThird and Key bank are larger than Huntington.

This isn't that big of a deal because they're not Michigan.
This is something I would expect from them and I'm not even trying to be mean. They don't have enough fans that show up to games not against big time opponents like the blue blood programs do.
September 16th, 2015 at 2:06 PM ^
I don't think people care if you are trying to be mean or not.
Also, I think the whole tickets for cokes thing was way overblown. They way it was handled was stupid, with the "miscommunication" thing, but I have no problem with the promotion itself.
September 16th, 2015 at 2:44 PM ^
Now that's funny.
September 17th, 2015 at 12:30 PM ^
would have upvoted this if i could. Love me some IT crowd.
September 16th, 2015 at 2:41 PM ^
Tickets, especially season tickets, cost more than $1.50 each (20 oz cokes are usually 2 for $3 in my area).
September 16th, 2015 at 3:25 PM ^
Yes, and lots of people pay way more than things should cost
September 16th, 2015 at 2:19 PM ^
Some of the blue blood programs are not doing terribly well with their attendance figures. We have gone over this topic numerous times in the past and unfortunately, the trend is not a good one. Students are staying away for various reasons and large, relatively inexpensive HD TV's are making the stay at home experience much better than it was before.
At Michigan, we are lucky that we have a large and successful fan base that is willing to support our program. Add the Harbaugh factor into the equation and hopefully, a very bright future, and we will be ok in the near term.
September 16th, 2015 at 2:40 PM ^
I hope that's not what you were suggesting.
September 16th, 2015 at 4:06 PM ^
That's not what I was suggesting. I saw numbers from last week's games. Schools like Penn State, Alabama, etc. were nowhere close to having full attendance. Florida has had vast sections of their stadium empty for several years now as has Tennessee, although of late, the Vols may be doing better.
I thought I saw a post on here earlier this week about this very point when we were discussing the empty seats in/near the student section but couldn't find the thread in the search function.
