Most talented in-state football programs?
I'm not meaning this to turn into a chance to brag about your high school back in the day, but what school(s) have been the best producers of football talent over the years?
Michigan just offered Kris Jenkins, Jr. from Olney (MD) Good Counsel, but his dad went to Belleville before going to Maryland and then the NFL. Belleville also produced Ian Gold, Devontae Dobbs, Julian Barnett, and a bunch of current (and former) big-time prospects (Andre Seldon, Damon Payne, etc.).
I know Cass Tech, King, Novi Catholic Central, and Farmington Hills Harrison have all produced a ton of talent, but what other schools would you put in the discussion?
Fellow shamrock, and I agree on OLSM. My brothers went there. Good football program.
What years did you attend CC?
10-14
Hullabaloo boys...
Warren De La Salle . . . because they got their swagger back
Shout out to BHS! Go Tigers!
West Bloomfield is the new Harrison. North Farmington will also see a boost from the Harrison closing. Champagnat Catholic in Miami is a fairly new powerhouse...of course Ginn Academy/Clevelans Glenville (shout out Big Frank and Earl!). East Kentwood is also on the rise in a similar way as East Lansing, home of future wolverine WR Andrel Anthony.
EDIT: Grandville is nice (also a pain), but not a lot of D1 guys coming through there. Ithaca either. Some of you guys didnt read the OPs request very well.
I was thinking Farmington would get the Harrison kids before North would.
Detroit catholic central
St. Mary's, King, De La Salle, Rockford, West Bloomfield, Clarkston, CC, Cass, Muskegon, East Kentwood, Salien, Rochester Adams, Dakota, Oak Park...produce 99% of the d1 talent in Michigan
I remember in the 94-04 decade OLSM pumped out skill position guys like they were manufactured in a lab. They also all seemed to be amazing basketball players as well.
Belleville is up there now and sad to see Farmington Herrington close.
Rice in the 70’s-90’s was huge.
WB is the new OLSM.
We (Detroit CC) dont even really crank out that much talent. Its always been a "more than the sum of its parts" kind of thing. More in recent years, but ironically that coincides with a title drought :(
Miss the glory days of our dominance in the 90-2009. Can’t overpower teams like we used to
Clarkston could make an argument for this year. East Kentwood has been producing some athletes lately.
Seven Traverse City Senior High School (Trojans) alums went on to play football for Michigan which may not be alot but in 1990 four of them were on the roster simultaneously: Chris Bohn, Marc Burkholder, Mike Nadlicki, and Josh Wuerfel. Can anyone think of any other high school that had four or more alums on scholarship at the same university simultaneously?
Also I am pretty sure additional TCSHS alums went on to play college football at schools other than Michigan.
Olsm , the Ross brothers,Tyson Smith,KJ Hamler, and Jalen-watts Jackson to name a few.
