One in a great line of Michigan centers.

Not a surprise given the Remington win, but still great to see.

Molk was only an honorable mention on SI's All-American list. How does the Rimington Award winner only get an honorable mention...
Good to see the AP get it right!

Congrats and thank you Mr. Molk. Good luck in New Orleans and on Sundays next fall.

Good for him....I will miss his interviews.

As a result of this, he should be named the Consensus All-American center. It is close between him and Konz, but that is determined by a point system which only takes the AP, AFCA, FWAA, TSN and WCFF teams. He was 1st team on FWAA, WCFF and AP so that well deserved honor should be his if my calculations are correct.

Yeah at least three of AP, FWAA, AFCA, Sporting News and WCFF have to select him for the NCAA 'consensus' honors. Since he has three, that means he'll be Michigan's 78th All-American, right?

Rimington and AP All-American? Molk is never going to let Ryan Van Bergen hear the end of this.
December 14th, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
Suppose now this settles the age old question of who is a better OL, Molk or Van Bergen....

...acceptable link. I chose the Toledo Blade because the DetNews selected an unfortunate photo for its story.

Does anyone else remember that after Molk's 1st year that the "GBMW Insiders" thought Molk was going to lose his job because his arms were too short and he wasn't athletic enough?
That was a good call.

Congrats and we'll deserved! I look forward to watching him play one more time for the Maize and Blue.

Hell, I'll bet he doesn't start more than one more game before they replace him. Here is to the next one, may he live up to the expectations for the position.
I am truly going to miss him, I hope he has great success in the NFL, and yes, I do put little mental tick marks down when the experts fail in their predictions.
I loved his answer about filling his shoes. Of course, I've loved most of his answers to interview questions.

I'm glad this man is receiving recognition for his hard work throughout his career.

What an amazing guy. For a kid who didn't come from a football family at all, all of these accolades are pretty remarkable.
For example, (for those who didn't watch the interview on The Wolverine), the first game of Molk's freshman season his dad, looking through the program said "Ah their (the opponents) center isn't that big, Dave should have an easy time against this guy." Dave's girlfriend, sitting next to his father, says "Um, Mr. Molk, that's the offensive center. Dave goes up against the defensive line." Molk jokes about it but it's pretty inspiring that he and his father have such a connection, football notwithstanding.
With how involved kids parents are getting in recruiting and their football careers in general, The Molks' story is pretty refreshing.
Congratulations, big guy.
